Meizu M6 Mini Player SL announced!

Meizu announced the new M6 miniPlayer SL. The SL stands for super slim, since it's 7.3 mm thick, compared to the 10 mm of Meizu M6. It's almost as thin as the Meizu Music card (7 mm). According to the source, the new player has a better screen with improved viewing angles, and uses a new sound chip that's rumored to make it sound better than its predecessor.

They managed to get the player thinner by using a smaller battery, which can support up to 26 hours of music playback and 4.5 hours of video.

As for pricing and availability, it will hit the shelves in China on September 25. The prices for the 2 GB, 4 GB and 8 GB will be, respectively, $90, $100 and $150 (650 / 799 / 1099 CNY). No word on availability in the US.

Since the sound chip and screen on the Meizu M6 SL aren't the same of M6, I believe the firmware for this player won't be the same either. They'll have to update it because of the changes in hardware, so I hope Meizu will take the opportunity to iron out some bugs before releasing it.

hm interesting.. I think its about time for me to get a new player and this looks awfully appealing. Does anyone know when either this or the Meizu M6 SE is supposed to come out?

Meizu M6 SL is going to hit the market in China on Sept 25. There's still no word on availability in the US or other countries from international distributors (Dane-Elec for US and Emgeton for Europe). Meizu M6 SE is going to take a little longer to be released, I think, since they're still working hard on their new miniOne M8.

Echoing former sentiments, hopefully it will iron out some of the bugs before the SE (M7?) rolls around. I'm looking for a first player, and looking forward to what it can do.

Honestly, it looks like they've backported a few features from what development has been done on the SE, and are perhaps either putting it to use, or seeing how it works out.

DAMN, i just found some info on meizume.com where it was said that the M6SL still has the skipping issue!

Hi Amoxil,
I saw your sig you have D2.
Which one have better sound quality?
I owned M6 SE and brokeit, just bought D2 and I dont really like the sound quality.
I feel that M6 have deeper bass and crispier high.

I've had the M6 SL for over a year now, and I really like it. I have had no problem with skipping between songs.
