Default WinFF 16:9 and 4:3 explanations?

I find WinFF to be the best (for me) tool to encode videos for my Sansa.
However i wanted a clarification and some input about your settings for less lagging/skipping/jerking of the video.

So which method for you is better for videos?
16:9? And what fps?
4:3? what fps?
Or you don't override the fps, you just stick with the .xml preset?
Would love to see your settings.
