From the Google translation of the gmp3 article:
"While waiting, you surely will find Zen Vision: M at very gravitational prices until exhaustion of stocks!"

Gravitational prices, eh? Would this be like throwing money down a black hole? (gravitation well)

I'd be willing to pay gravitational prices for a good machine translator...

Let's see how heavy those prices will get...

Of course, it's an opportunity for those willing to have a great all-arounder for music and video with a short budget.

I'm not a Creative fan but that's sad news. I bet they won't release a successor until Apple will release the 6th generation iPod.

I think you'll win that bet..

The new flash Zen is not quite.. a ZVM replacement model.

It's missing (it seems) video-out.. which many of us consider to be crucial for any device to replace the ZVM in a substantive way.

Alan Devine from Creative had this to say to tech.co.uk:
"But yes we do have some spectacular new products in the early stages of development in Singapore. The Creative Zen will be our flagship player for the next couple of months at least."
and this "Touchscreen is an obvious thing to pitch, but there's going to be much more exciting things than that," he said.

Take it for what it's worth.. and it may just be long term thinking, but an actual ZVM replacement model seems to be down the road a bit.

At this point in time, it looks like the new Zen is something of a transitional player... a very nice one, but still not quite the flagship model than many of us had foreseen. That duty now is split between the new Zen and the ZVW.

Their flagship is the ZVW. It is a good player, and it's hard drive based. Actually, every company has a HDD based flagship player. (except SanDisk)

Creative can't drop the ZVM. It's the only good iPod killer they have.

Haven't you just heard? The new ZEN will be their flagship/iPod killer for the next months.

Sadly, I won the bet. Creative will be late with the replace model of the ZVM and yet again, they will lose ground on Apple. Stevie...you're a genius...

Aah but think what this will do the second hand value of the 'classic ZVM' a discontinued true icon.

Good dog, at last I will be retro cool

Startling news indeed. Are Creative not doing well with the ZVM to continue production until their new line or something?

I think it might have been a little premature to discontinue the ZVM quite so early, I also believe Creative saw the writing on the wall with the (then) upcoming new Apple releases.

There may have been some thinking involved in trying to funnel buyers towards the new flash Zen for the holidays, again knowing that Apple would dominate the marketplace and the ZVM would just suffer more losses and after all small capacity flash players outsell large cap. players anyway.. call it cut and run if you will, it may or may not have been smart marketing in retrospect.

Expect a new flagship player from Creative in Q1 2008...

Hehe, I can say the same...except I'm not sure. An iSheep and his friend dissed mine today, called it a fake iPod...but hey, that's his problem. He should have escaped Apple's clutches while he could...

But, all I can say about this is that IT'S A DAMN SHAME!!!! However, I think Creative won't be the only one losing ground this season, since Apple's new iPods are a joke, every last one of them. They're simply micromanaging their line of players, and not churning out any real innovation...except they're apparently abandoning their player's fitness requirements, since the new Nano's a wide-load.

IMO, the New Zen pounds the iPod nano 3G in every way lol. but Creative better get serious. as in, support vga video because the nano can play vga video.

either way, w/e the only iPOd that im totally impressed with is the Touch, and somewhat the classic because of the price/capacity. (80GB for 249 is a STEAL)... not too fond of the half screen menu..

Creative continues their reputation of not supporting their products. One reason Apple been successful is that they have basically stuck to 3 products. A HDD based player and 2 Flash based players. I like Creative but they have too many players (20 players currently on their website) and they continuously abandon their products (Micro, Micro Photo, Vision:M, and on and on and on) and their marketing sucks ass. And companies wonder why they will never come close to Apple.

should have realized what was going on...

well let's hope the new stuff is good...and comes out quick...

any speculations about the new line?

If that's US dollars.. then it's a hell of a nice price, considering I paid $300.00 new...
