I tried using Media Monkey but everytime it scans for my music files,it ends up making duplicates of the songs.

That's odd....are you sure you don't have duplicates on your hard drive? Use this menu to figure that out.....

Yes I'm sure.I don't know why it does that.Only for certain songs, every other music management software I use,Jetaudio,Zune and WMP11 don't make duplicates of my songs but Media Monkey does every time it scans for music.Only in the library it makes duplicates though.

What happens when you open up the duplicate content part of that menu?

It doesn't open,it just skips the song and goes to the song next to it which is the real song.So it seems like it just shows duplicates for no reason.

I've looked over MediaMonkey (MM) and the following are the settings I use and they might help prevent duplicates:

- In Tools >> Options >> Library >> File Monitor I have it set to "Remove unavailable tracks".

- I have it set to auto-organize my library during scans and edits, and to delete any empty folders. This ensures that all of my tracks are properly organized and file named. Also, when I add music to my music library (by dropping the tracks in the music library's folder), MM will automatically move them into the right folders and rename the files correctly according to the rules I have set.

- I have MM do a start up scan of my entire music library when it starts up.

- I regularly maintain my music library regularly by clicking on File >> Maintain Library. When it comes to optimizing the database, I have it do a complete optimization, rather than a quick optimization.

I haven't had a problem with duplicates, and I hope the above settings resolve the problem for you.

Something I should mention about auto-organizing your music collection: If you decide to let MM do this it may take a while for MM to complete the task if you decide to change the way your library is arranged and/or the way your files are named.

foobar2000 v1.1.2 just got released. Not much has changed as far as I'm concerned...new icon, barely noticeable speed boost, that's about it. Still recommend updating though...but I always update everything lol

Yeah lol...I've partially learned...Zune taught me that .

I still disagree about Windows though, I still think 7 is better than XP SP2

^ awww man, you hadda go there! lol...Don't get me started. I am having a like/hate relationship with Win7 now - while nice, it is definitely a very patronizing OS.

If you're interested, see how Win7 is driving me nuts here:

Maybe if you had 7 Ultimate, the XP compatibility mode would solve your problem.

Or, you could stay with an OS that doesn't completely suck.

Besides Win7 trolling, I have to add to this thread that I actually find Foobar 1.1.2 to be noticeably faster at adding large wads of files. Nice update.

Well I do agree that Windows 7 does suck on older hardware....XP rocks with computers that have 1GB or less of RAM. And the only time I hate Windows XP is on my school's computers....terrible setup.

Great, glad to hear someone who finds this update worthwhile.

Too bad it's not better than XP SP3

Actually pretty much all bencharking shows XP SP3 is superior in every way to Win7 when it comes to performance.

On my laptop, Win7 actually ran better than XP SP3, true, 7 sux for gaming, but we all have different experiences/opinions. Oh and SP3 is a good improvement over SP2 too.
