DJ Headphones

Hi,

I wanted to buy some headphones like:

I want them with a small cord (1-2m) and around only $30-50

What makes are good and can anyone suggest some good phones??

The best DJ phones, in order of personal preference:

Beyerdynamic DT770/80
Sennheiser HD 25-1
AKG K81DJ

But for a $30-50 budget, the HD215 should be sufficient.

You can pickup some used 81DJ's for around the same price from head-fi.org or new ones from ebay. If you have a guitar center near you, you might be able to try out the 215, 81dj, 770/80 and some others. Guitar center is pricey so you might want to find them online after you try them out or ask guitar center to match the price.

just a quick question, couldnt find any reiviews, how are the Aurvana DJ phones? id think they would sound poor like the Zen Aurvanas?

Creative is a company that manufactures mediocre sound cards and some better-ish DAPs - for phones, stay with quality companies that know what they do (and not just rebrand some Chinese OEM stuff).

Is it me or do the Sennheisers look a bit weird??

Are they ok with you DFKT??


What about the Sennheiser HD20's?? I live in UK so they are around $40 while the 215 are $76 here.

Did you read the review Slaughter linked to? Maybe spend some less money and go for the Senn HD201/HD202 instead... but the AKG K81DJ certainly is the (much) better choice.

I say go for HD202. Good isolation, good bass, good sound, long cord with a thing to roll it.

Just go to a store and try some of the phones recommended in here - I'm fairly sure most of them would fit the most hydrocephalic of heads...

Thanks DERF. Whats the thing like to roll the cord. 3m is too long for me. Can you make it any length and does the rest of the "tied" cord get in the way. Is it like the ipod earphones where you slide that thing up the cord?

Also on one site it said the cable is and then it isnt detatchable. Whats the answer and if so does it mean detatchable from the main headphones itself? Do the ear cups rotate to give "one ear listening"?

Whats the difference between the HD202 and the HD202 Professional Closed Back Headphones Electronics.

I believe you just have the HD202 phones as amazon mentions the cord adjuster.

You can always shorten the cord, and solder a new 3.5mm plug onto it... no biggie.

not many, or for that fact any, stores that im aware of have headphones out of the box...

Well, any Senn, Beyer, or AKG I know definitely fits people with big heads or hair... I can't speak for phones from unknown companies, or "street-style/neck-style" phones, but normal cans from reputable companies should fit.

You buy them from Amazon, Headroom, or whatever store is near you...

What sounds and genuinely are better:Cordless headphones (say 1 metre from transmitter) or corded headphones. I am swaying to cordless phones but on the HD 202 phones you can apparently shorten the cord i dont know which to go for. (How much to, HD202 owners and where does the "un-used" cord go to)ANY IDEAS!!Thanks again

Corded headphones. And just cut the cord to the disired size, and soldier a new nuetric angled headphone plug to the re-sized cord.
