Converting the NS-DV into an iriver x20

i've got good news for you, tobey. you can revert to the insignia firmware. i have an x20 and did the same thing as you and put the insignia fw on my x20. i had no sound and all the other problems you encountered. in order to make the x20 accept the ns-dv firmware i had to change the version in the fw header modify the end of the file a little and rewrite the correct CRCs. see here and here and here

tobey you might wanna see this fourm ..... on how they used insignia ns-dv firmware to change the iriver system and they also changed back to the iriver firm ware i would like this to help you the the other guy learn more about the two devices and possible make rock box or something like that for the two devices.
