Good Head/Backphones under $40

Sennheiser PX100 vs. Sennheiser PMX 100 vs. Philips SHN 5500
These are my primary choices.
Please tell me the pros or cons of these.
Any other recommendations is welcome

Premium price for ipod fanboy white. Not the fault of Sennheiser, but the retailer.

Google for prices, check Amazon and Ebay.

Px100 are good entry level phones, also consider the Koss Portapro and the Sennheiser HD201

I bought a pair of PortaPros for my daily workouts. They just arrived from the retailer. I'll post my first impressions about them soon.

I've used a pair of PX100's as my daily wear headphone at the office for about 4 months now. They're comfortable for hours, have really good sound, and still let enough outside sound in so I can hear people talk when they drop by my desk for something.

Just got home and unpacked my PortaPros. They look great, IMO. The build quality also seems very good: nothing appears to be flimsy or lose. The most fragile part is the joint between the drivers' blue casings, I guess. That doesn't mean they won't last. I do care about my things, so it won't be a problem, anyway.

One question, though: I found their sound to be quite muddy out of the box. Should I burn them in?

They are known for being bassy, some burn-in might clean them up (24-48 hrs), but don't expect miracles. If you look at the frequency graph, you will see the huge hump in the lows and mid bass Link.

No problem. I'll let them burn in for 24 - 48 hours. If the bass doesn't get much cleaner I will compensate tweaking the EQ. But for my morning workouts, I still prefer a bassy earphone than one that lacks in the lows.

Thanks for the recommendations but, I don't really like the looks of the Koss.
I'm still sticking with the choice of PX 100 white.
So the price should be the same, right?

Besides, Koss are hard to get where I live(SE-Asia)

I have used both the Porta-Pro's (my former portable cans) and the PX-100 (my current portable cans). I myself prefer the PX-100 because the sound is more balanced. The Porta-Pro's have more bass but it sounds more like noise than music. Also, it is very easy to get your hair caught in the head band of the Porta-Pro while adjusting.

Today when I'm looking for the PX100, The shop owner offered me a PX200 Flight at the price of PX100. Can you tell me the Pros and cons af this PX200 Flight? Is it better/worse/same than PX100?
