Hi
Does anyone know if Notmad Explorer will work with Vista? I wrote to Redchair asking, but of course got no answer. As always, the software is superb, but getting a question answered is like pulling teeth. I'm going to be upgrading my HP notebook to Vista in the near future and am trying to see what problems I'll have with the hardware/software that I will attach to it. If anyone has gotten Notmad to work with Vista, please speak up. I'd like to know how you did it, what version of Notmad you used, and what Zen drivers you had to use. I appreciate in advance any help. Darbre I have 2 Zen Xtras, a 60GB, and a 40. |

FWIW, if you can't get Notmad to work, WMP11 should be able to handle most of the tasks you're used to.

Thanks, ZenChick. Will WMP11 work without any special drivers, or will I still have to install Creative Media Source? Also, the one thing that I really like about Notmad is it's ability to create playlists of each album after it's transferred. Do you know if WMP11 (or any other app) that will do this?
Thanks Darbre |

WMP11 has its own MTP drivers, so it should work just fine. As for playlists, WMP11 has a very good playlist editor and a decent auto-playlist generator. Additionally, it'll easily import any .m3u and .wpl playlist, so if you use, say, EAC to rip your CD's, it can use the playlists EAC generates, and sync them to your player.

Thank you very much for your help. It looks like I can cross my Xtra off the list of things to check before the Vista Upgrade!

hello! I found this thread fairly high up the Google results, so even though it's old and dead, I reckon my posting here will help anyone else who's trying to do the same thing.
The solution is here: http://www.techinhiding.com/support/...icro-backdoor/ The link name is misleading - the instructions work for just getting the driver to work for whatever purpose, even if the player itself is working fine. I'm very happy that it's all set up now, thanks to this. ![]() VISTA ONLY!(advice copied and pasted straight from techinhiding.com) |

re: Notmad...
Anyone know conclusively whether RedChairSoftware is still actually in business? I purchased Notmad a few years ago and recently tried to contact them [email was a black hole] - there is also no telephone number at all for RedChairSoftware in California in the area they list as they office location. Plus, AFAIK, the Notmad website has changed 1 bit since like 5 years ago... ![]() cheers and thanks, -lestatar
