RockAA (Rockbox Album Art) is a simple album art downloading tool mainly for Rockbox MP3 players. It also supports Sansa's original firmware. Support for new MP3 players is easy to add, so if you want your player included just post a request.
Download Documentation RockAA started here on AnythingButIpod, but was rewritten from scratch and released under an open source licence at Sourceforge. But you can still post here ![]() We're currently looking for: - Translators (we already have an english and a german translation) - Developers (mainly for additional search engines and saving formats) - Maybe someone to make a small (1-3 pages) website for RockAA and/or a nice logo Last edited by G.I.Joe; 06-05-2007 at 08:35 AM. |

This looks promising.
Here are some bugs/quirks: - After i type an artist, and press GO, the GO button remains pushed for about 20-30 seconds. - Then it displays the results plus a dialog with a "Error while searching: Connection timed out: connect" error - Maybe you didn't tell us, but i don't know how to save those images that appear (right-click doesn't seem to work). Maybe double click works, but after i clicked the response came as well 20-30 seconds later. - And the app simply freezes (like it is now) Suggestions: - Right click option for saving the images - If possible, can you do this in another platform, i think an .exe is much better than JAVA, but then again it's a personal opinion. Overall, i like this, it comes useful for Rockbox, with the album art patch of course. |

I can't reproduce your error, but it sounds like it's caused by your internet connection or your operating system. Do you use a firewall? I've had weird problems with java and firewalls before. About the suggestions: - Right clicking is already implemented. You could actually click with any mouse button. - I won't change to another programing language. I think java is one of the most powerfull and flexible language. And java programs run on any OS. |

Nice.
The freeze is gone, and the dialog error i reported doesn't show up anymore. Here's what i noticed this time: After the results are displayed, when you right or left click on them on the status bar it shows Downloading images. But the dialog to save the image comes 10-20 seconds after. Does the program downloads the image before hand and then just saves it or is it a bug? Great job, G.I.Joe. One more app to make my Sansa better that the company actually planned

I've noticed a small bug where old search results are not properly removed from the interface, I'll release a fixed version later. |

I've just uploaded a new version. I think the program is good enough now and I won't make any big chances to it. But if you find any bugs just send me a PM (I won't read this thread regularly) and I'll try to fix it.

Very nice software. I thought maybe you could also add JPEG support, so that you can add Album Art for the OF. Maybe someone still uses it. Thanks for your work

Good idea, I'll think about it. Does the Album Art for the OF need a special filename or resolution?

Yes. The name should be either Album Art.jpg or Folder.jpg. Size doesn't matter.

great job, really handy. a little niggle that doesnt matter: if it returns not results it says '0 results. click on any image to save it' i know this doesnt affect its functionality at all but i'm sure you'd like it to be perfect

I've also got a small question: If I add resizing to the progam, wich size should the pictures for rockbox and the original firmware be resized to? Does rockbox need different sizes on different players (like one size for Sansa, one for iPods,...)? |

Both Rockbox and the original firmware can resize the Album Art pictures. Adding a resize feature will be redundant.
