Could I just get clarification regarding the upgrading of firmware (My girlfriend runs Windows 2000).

Does the player still work in English after the 4.06 firmware is installed, or does one need to change it to English from Korean? It's just that my Korean is just a tad rusty.

No problem Gav, after the firmware update the language automatically jumps to Korean, but you can easily switch back to English by navigating to the settings menu (you'll recognise the icon), choose the third option from the top and select English. No need to take the Korean dictionary out .

Thanks for the tutorial! I just flashed it to the Korean firmware and I love it even more than the International firmware.

Yep, That tutorial was really helpful.

I really prefer the Korean firmware too, but what's missing, in my opinion, is the ability to use the K3 (e.g. listen to music) while it's charging, and browsing the music files using the id3 tags (like the MTP firmware) instead of folders. Also, it would be great if we could select a folder (or genre or arstist, in the event we get to have tag browsing) and choose to play all the subfolders (or albums, or anything that is inside the selected element). I had a YP-T6 (UMS and folder-based navigation) and it had this possibility. What it allowed to do was to limit the shuffle or repeat options to the tracks that were in the selected folder and its subfolders.

And there are a few cosmetic changes I'd like to see, like when showing the currently playing screen, there's plenty of room to put the artist, the album name and track name on their own lines instead of having one long line scrolling all the info for the song.

I can't wait to see what the next firmware has for us...

Default What am I doing wrong????

My girl friend bought a K3, and she is running Windows 2000. I have the XP sp2 to upgrade the firmware so that she can use it. When I plug the K3 player in, it is recognized by my computer as yp-k3 in Explorer, its recognized by Samsung media player (version 5, since thats Windows 2000 compatible), and Window Media Player v10. All 3 of those programs give me the option to format the k3. When formatting, the progress bar does not scroll?, but the player says that its formatting. It did infact remove any of the music that was stored. But I can't seem to copy the files for v4.03 to the root dir, or any of the folders that are visible? And when I check the k3 settings, it says the firmware is v3.05, after formatting??? I hate to beat a dead horse, but can someone help me please. My regestry is fine. When I use a usb drive, it shows up in the lower right hand side of the screen like it should. When I plug the k3 in though, nothing shows up down there, eventhough the programs recognizes it??

Nothing should show up at the bottom of the screen if you have firmware v3.05 (It is an MTP-device, not UMS/MSC like a standard usb drive). Have you tried formatting it all three ways to see if any will allow the files to be transferred?

Yes, all 3 programs says its formatting, the k3 player says its formatting, it evens says formattings is complete. I even tried all 3 programs to copy the files into the player right after formatting, and unpluging the player to turn unit on and then trying to copy the files.

Can you give any more detail on what happens when you try to copy the files through windows explorer? Does the computer give you an error message of any sort?

The download links for the firmware in both the top post and some later replies don't work. All I get is a text file which says

Code:
<script>
window.close()
</script>
which is obviously not very useful.

yepp.co.kr are experiencing a scheduled downtime at the moment. The links should be back up and fully functioning in a few hours.

Three days later and the links still are not back up...
How long is this scheduled downtime supposed to be?
Perhaps could someone just post the actual files for 4.03 and 4.06 here as an attachment?

... Please read the announcement. If anyone could post their 4.03 and 4.06 firmware files it would be the quickest solution.

I took a look and it seems easy enough to find the downloads for the firmware (Support -> Downloads -> Firmware, all in English). I just can't get past the registration.

That's the tricky part. It was simple to 'work around' the registration before the site was redesigned. Be sure to let us know if you get anywhere.

You need a valid South Korean Resident number to register for the site, and you can only get one of those by being born in South Korea. You used to be able to find them online but there's been a big crackdown on it in recent years. Frankly I wouldn't want to be accused of identity theft anyway.

I'm looking around for people born in South Korea who might be able to give us a hand by downloading the firmware for me so I can post it here, but I haven't had any luck.
