Default Screwed up display on K5

I've got the K5 for 4 months now and it I haven't had a problem with it (except with the syncing software) until now.

I don't know what happened but I just found out that the display on my K5 screen is kinda screwed up. Half of the display, when turned on, has got many black lines on it which kinda distorts the image, making it impossible to read.
Strangely, this only happens one portion of the display, and my screen is perfectly fine. I've tried resetting the player but the lines are still there, so I suspect that something is wrong inside.

Has anyone encountered a similar problem and can suggest possible ways to overcome it? I'm too lazy to bring it to Samsung for service.

Oh and can anyone tell me how to get the 1.03 firmware files? Since the screen is half screwed I don't need 1.43 I suppose. Thanks.

Try downgrading to 1.03 and see if the screen is fixed...might be a corrupted firmware.

This is how it looks on my player.

Best to contact Samsung. This looks similar to a problem with the Zen Vision: M (found here). It could be that, "the LCD glass is separating from the conductive strips carrying the video signal"

Looks very much like my K5 after i updated the firmware and the IMG file didnt update.
When i loaded the firmware files on again, it fixed that issue.
But if you didnt update the firmware i cant see that happening unless some the files became corrupted.
weird stuff.

I'd guess Nacron and RaRe are correct.. I'd drag and drop the 1.43 firmware files to the root of the Samsung player directory... allow it to update and you should been in working order again, if this isn't an electrical problem of some sort...

Well I got it back from Samsung in less than a week.

Good news is they replaced the LCD so its working fine now

Bad news is after enjoying it for a few hours the power/hold switch screwed up -_-.
The spring mechanism stopped working and now I can't turn on my K5 unless I plug it to the computer or AC Adapter. And when I turn it on it's on permanent hold mode.

I must applaud the workmanship.
