Default D2 touchscreen

I haven't seen one of these irl but it seems to me you need to use the touchscreen for pretty much all navigation. Is this how it works.

It looks like a great player but I'm really not sure if the touchscreen is for me. Are there any touchscreen converts here or is it just a small price to pay for everything else it has?

I liked the fact on my older Sony NW-HD5 that I didn't even have to move the sleeve to perform basic navigation. I'm not completely closed to a touchscreen but I think I need reassurance it will be OK.

I just bought it and I was worried about the touchscreen too. It's actually not that bad though. First of all, there are three buttons on the top (excluding the on/off/hold switch.) The middle of the three brings you to the menu while the other two lower and raise the volume. You can also set the menu button (when held longer) to go to the next/previous track. When you set the player on hold, the menu button becomes a pause/play and the two buttons can be set to ff/rew/next/pervious track.

So for basic functions, you can use the buttons, but it is just a little bit inconvenient since skipping tracks/changing volumes must require you to set the player on/off hold.

That said...I just use to touchscreen to change tracks even when the player is in my pockets because the button on the screen is fairly large and easy to access.

So far the only real downside I see in the touchscreen is the smudges I make on the screen protector...but you can't win them all .

Ah - so you can skip tracks/pause/play without the screen?

If that's the case I might just have been sold!

Yes, but the player must be on hold (ironically ).

Well I've ordered one......

I'll know who to blame if I hate it

I'm sure I'll get used to the touchscreen and it does seem like a nice player - I've been weighing up the options for various players for weeks now and this just seems the best option for the price. It does seem like a mighty sweet device.

Don't worry as you and BlagReaper are gonna' be great buds!!! I personally hated touch screen players and devices untill I got a D2. Took a few days to really grow on me but a piece-o-cake now. You'll love it!!!
