Default PBHT – Poor Boy Home Theatre

Here’s my gear portable and HT.
The ZVW pretty much stays at work, with vids added through the CF card.
Mobile:
iRiver H320 video; the best mini PMP on God’s green earth. ABi
Wabash Trail / Gym:
Rio Forge with SD card – not pictured.

DSCN0698.JPG DSCN0703.JPG

PBHT:
Olevia 537H 37” LCD – snagged at a local doorbuster for 600 bills.
-I first heard about this HDTV at AVSforum and Newegg
Philips DVP5982 with XviD support through USB. Dang cheap and worth every penny.
250GB External HD X 2 so I don’t have to mess with cables, just swap out the HDs. Dealigg Rocks
Sony SA-VA15 Pro-Logic Surround:
Yah it’s old but still sounds good.

DSCN0707.JPG DSCN0710 .JPG DSCN0712.JPG

The DVP5982 USB and ZVW are a perfect match since they have almost identical Aspect Ratios. With StaxRip, one encode works for both.

Btw Ødegård I also have a 5960 hooked up to my CRT, with StaxRip you can increase the quality up to 2700kbps through the USB-no joke the quality is unbelievable. I ramped up "The Island" to 3500kbps on the 5982 without stutter-even the chase scene was smooth. The DVPs are amazing.
If you want the StaxRip Templates let me know. You need 2, one for 2.35:1 for cropping and the rest are NoCrop.
I should make a separate thread for StaxRip. Everyone makes it so difficult when it doesn’t have to be.

Can't keep up with dfkt, but amazed with how far a grand can go.

Got myself the Klipsch Promedia 2.1 speakers for the bedroom. They're ok-ish (ie. the least crappy powered 2.1 system I heard so far, tons better than the Creative and Logitech stuff I heard) - they should do fine for some cartoons and movies watched on the laptop. At least they beat the laptop speakers by far. And I'm not gonna listen to music on them, anyways.

They're fugly, but for a reason - tilt/swivel stands really come in handy with these satellite speakers.

Klipsch Promedia GMX A-2.1 is the full name, for completeness sake. Not that they could be confused with any other 2.1 speakers out there...

As I said, I got tired of listening to the laptop speakers when watching movies in bed...

A small 2.1 system doesn't take up much space, the woofer can be hidden somewhere - and it's definitely an upgrade from the laptop speakers.

Not really all out audio but anyways

Have the weirdest speaker setup now, would have liked a real 5.1 system but after buying the tv i need to save up some xD
So, my center speaker is the TV... Front speakers and sub are my thrustworthy creative speakers form the first post. Back speakers are two philips speakers from a very cheap 5.1 system i had before, driven by my t-amp. Have a stand for my U2 now as its taken over as my primary player, but its too ugly to be shown

Cardas? Pah!

Equinox or nothing... no seriously, maybe there's a reasonably priced Oehlbach or Headphile cable or maybe a Zu Mobius in the future. But for now I'm really happy with how they sound - and they're definitely not burned in yet.
