Well, what use are peak value measurements... it's the continuous delivery of good sound that matters. Any real 30 Watt amp can blow your house down with speakers as ineffective as 85dB/mW.

I know, I know, but different people want different things.

A 1.8L Audi TT will burn off most Amercican muscle cars of V8 design and 4.0l or more.

My old Linn Magik amp is rated at 40 watt into 4 ohms and will drive speakers to very loud levels without clipping, but you should see the toroidal transformer inside. I have an old Hitachi 100 watt mosfet amp and the Linn beats it in every respect apart from heat, you can cook eggs on the Hitachi.


But If you are cruisin the 'lectrical goods for a one box, boys bedroom multi changer FM boombox then 300 watts pmp gets the juices a flowin and is sure to impress the rest of the kids in the grade...............

The only useful thing about PMPO is that it separates the audiophiles from the wanna-bes. Numbers sell - particularly amongst the uneducated.
