Talking Update with letter for molds and EQ Settings for Essence STX

For people interested that's what I said for my custom molds :

Quote:
Hello,

I have a few requests for my molded tips :

- Firstly it is necessary that the tip is adapted to a port of IEM with the cable above,
behind the ear, with the IEM upside down, for Sennheiser and Shure (which can only be worn that way anyway).
Please note that I need fully molded tips (unlike tips
molded to the canal only).
- I would also like you to try to make a rounded canal rather than a right angle
if the speaker is facing a wall due, the width of the soundstage
will be reduced, as I like the soundstage of Sennheiser, if it were to change I would prefer it even wider.
I do not want to complicate your task, therefore try to make the angle to the extent possible ...
On the other hand, molded tips like any tips should be removed but I guess you had already planned.
Do what suits you to mold, either like tips or slightly molded around the shell (although it limits the upgradability for Shure ...).

Thank you!
I also sent a picture of someone wearing IE8 with custom tips and a little drawing showing the angle thing.

You should definetly ask for full custom tips around the entire shell, it's really magic, Idk what normal tips would have provide but those are way crazy, I cannot get used to the sound anymore, and I tend to believe that in one year I'll still be impressed :O.

And those are my EQ settings for the Essence STX :

Indeed, and I still love it. "Dumb" phones don't get obsolete as fast as "smart" ones.

Not exactly a picture of my current audio setup, but I just finished building a larger surface on top of my old desk and I haven't put everything back together yet.

Just got this to hook my netbook to my reciever, it's replacing my old Creative Xmod.

So here's the new desk surface I put together. It gives me a bit more space than the last configuration. I just stuck 6-foot shelves across the surface of my old 3-foot desks, then reinforced the corner where they meet with some 2x4's. Overall a pretty cheap and simple project; my music sounds a lot better than when my speakers were at the far corners of the room.

Here are some pics from my room with my makeshift home theater/music listening setup. still very much a work in progress and still very much a mess, but it is what it is. please don't crucify me for the apple gear, lol. didn't bother to resize the photos + i'm not a great photographer by any stretch.

my desk. here you can see my asus laptop, my UE tf.10 buds + case, and my iphone 3GS. the two black boxes are an onkyo dx-c380 6-disc CD changer beneath a Sony BDP-S5000ES Blu-ray player. that blu-ray player has to be one of my favorite things; weighs around 25 pounds and made in japan!

another shot of these two:

next is a shot of my TV. A 50" Panasonic plasma, G20 model. Picture easily bests most LED/LCD sets. sitting on a broken down stand that originally matched an old Sony FD Trinitron CRT. You can see my Klipsch center channel in front of the TV.

beneath the TV sits more components. Starting from the top, it's a Monster HTS 1650 "Reference Powercenter." Makes it easier to unplug/plug things in, and looks pretty neat sitting there. Next is another Blu-ray player, a Pioneer Elite BDP-23FD, and beneath that is an old circa late 2007 Toshiba HD-A30 HD-DVD player (tear). Really does't get much use anymore considering both my BD player can scale DVDs better than it, but sentimental attachment prevents me from shelving it. next to the player is a white Audioquest mini-to-rca cable. and beneath that lies the brains of the operation, a pioneer elite VSX-21TXH receiver.

The Apple TV. Use for Netflix and iTunes/Airplay streaming.

shot of one of my fronts, a B&W 685.

use the Energy CB-5s as rears.

and lastly, a shot of my subwoofer, a MartinLogan Dynamo 700. A really fast, compact 10" sealed sub - 300W RMS. Really packs a punch in my small room and is wonderful for music.

Bwahaha, awesome... I keep a tiny CRT in storage for my N64 and C64 as well. It just isn't the same on TFTs.

Ask and ye shall receive:

I think I'm done with the setup now. These are 'just' A3Xs but I only listen to MP3s and I don't yet record my guitar playing. The world doesn't deserve that.

Ah and of course my next buy is a bigger desk..!

Thought I'd put some photos of my living room system.

It's a "retro" system as it was old Dad's old Hi-Fi from the mid-80's. Very good quality separates at the time and still going strong after all these years.

Marantz CD player and Amplifier:

Closeup of the Amp:

My Eltax speakers are a couple of years old and produce a very enjoyable sound:
