My home setup. HDMI FTW.

I wanted to watch some pre-recorded tele shows, and they would only work on the laptop so that went into the tele, but fair dinkum, couldn't resist browsing the web (ABI>>) in HD

Heres some pics of my current set up. Finally got it how I like it.
I moved the sub out from under my desk and put it in a corner behind me, is much louder and sounds much better in its new location.

That FiiO thing drives the HD650 quite nicely, nothing to complain there.

After showing off my portable gear (http://www.anythingbutipod.com/forum...postcount=2861), I now make amends by showing my home system. DIY amp and speakers. Although the source is usually my Dell, I do connect a CD player and on occasion (please forgive me) an iThing.

Alright here we go;

Speakers; Talon Khorus (Talon Peregrines in black w/stands are on their way, will post pics!)
Amp (Silver faceplated box on top of equipment stand) Audio Research 300.2
Preamp (NOT IN PICTURE, OLD PICTURE) Audio Research SP-16 Vacuum Tube Preamplifier.
DAC; Currently I'm using a Sony STR-V555ES Receiver for it's DAC
Turntable (There are 3); VPI TNT MK1 (that's the HUGE black beast on the plank of wood) Here is a better pic;

That was when I first got it, I cover it in antistatic chemicals now, so it stays black sleek and shiny, I've also sold the SME IV arm you see on it, and am saving for a Trans-Fi T3 Pro arm, and a New platter ($700!USD FOR A CHUNK OF ALUMINUM!!!)
here is a newer pic;

Turntable2; Transcriptors Hydraulic Reference Turntable

Right now it has a Grace 707 tonearm on it, I'm currently paying off a Transcriptors Vestigal arm. (I don't ever actually plan on using this table, it is more of a collectors Item)

Turntable3; Pioneer PL-L50 Linear Drive Turntable (in full system pic under the amp and sony receiver, you can make out a record label on it)

Don't pay attention to the floors or the walls, reframed the whole top floor of the house and haven't done the drywall yet so all you see is vapour barrier . The floor is striped 1970s carpet that was done really badly so it had to be removed with razorblades it was horrible, so the house is in progress hehe.

These are the two entertainment areas in my bedroom at the moment, computer desk and my old console gaming/turn table area hehe.

My computer desk here i do most of my interneting and such, downstairs is where i do my gaming on my much faster PC.

I play my old consoles here hehe, and such. Dreamcast, Snes, N64, Genesis, all the controllers and games are in the drawer. That's a Grace USB turn table.

A little of my smaller system...not my purist system,my quality POWER PLAY system.These are older pics today Klipsch Palladium stand as mains with a Palladium center.

Subs,I was testing/experimenting with various drivers. Today TC Sounds LMS5400/Ultra occupy half the wall and Maelstrom-X the other part, Acoupower still in center.

In my main system these babies take front row...and DV AX10 used as transport.

Hey BattleBrat, sorry I have to ask this and I just noticed it now. Is that a rubber band used as a belt on your turntable?

No those are the actual belts, they are supposed to be arctic/clear (they were when new) but they turned yellow when they got old.

Nice, seeing an Austrian turntable right on the other end of the world.

To be perfectly honest, I did lol.. I can't find that though, but by the looks of it, it looks like a debut iii with a different cartridge and platter. But as you said on your post, you upgraded the platter and cartridge. (I wish i have the money to get a different cartridge aswell lol. I'm really happy with the stock ortofon though)

Pro-Ject makes a great table, certain models even out perform their Rega equivalents.

To be honest, the cartridge/needle is the only important thing on a turntable. Everything else doesn't really matter in an extremely primitive machine as that - a motor spinning a platter, either directly or via belt. As long as the housing and tone arm are solid enough as to not vibrate/resonate, every turntable is as good as the next.

That being said, Ortofon Concorde systems are a bit rigid, have excellent tracking, and are well suited for DJing, but for home listening where these features aren't important there might be better options in the same price range. But it still should be a solid needle that lasts for thousands of hours.
