No the Sony DAT recorder is a remnant from crappier times, it hardly gets used anymore... Good thing we have HDD recording nowadays.

BTW, I still have a Korg Poly 800 somewhere - also a remnant (but not as classy as the Moog!)

@DFKT, can I come round and tidy up? My life would be so much easier if I could stand cables and general chaos it drives me mad. At least there is still me and you that has a VHS still running. Btw, not having a go at your room, I am so anal about a tidy room it is pathetic.

Check out EnzoTen setup, is that for the photo or is it always that neat? That is bliss for me.

My setup

Speakers - JVC SP-UXG3 (25W each @ 4-ohms)

Amp - Cambridge Audio A1

Mixing Desk - Behringer Xenyx 802

Headphones - Sennheiser eH150s

Turntable - Dual 505 (with Audio Tecnica stylus)

------------------------------------

Channel 2 on the mixer is my bass guitar and 3/4 is my PC - the A1 has the phono stage board so the turntable goes straight into that. The massive crack on the rear-left hinge on the turntable is only to the plastic, it wasn't seated in the hinge properly so when I opened the lid it just snapped . All Loctite'd back together though .

How does that Behringer mixer sound on a home stereo? I'm thinking of something similar and those Behringer are quite inexpensive. Any hiss?

There is a tiny (and I do mean tiny) amount of hiss on it, but that's more the source than the desk itself I think. The EQ is good, you've got +/- 15dB on 12kHz, 2.5kHz and 80Hz (Hi, Mid and Lo) so it's pretty versatile

I mainly got it so I can easily combine the signals from my PC, Stereo (when I get around to doing the cables) and bass guitar and still have it running through the same amp/speakers. Plus I'm a perfectionist so I like to be able to tweak the EQ depending on what music I'm listening to

Sony CMT-EH15 Micro Hi-Fi:

Interestingly, this model is sold in Canada,Europe and Australia, but not in the US.

Has a input for audio devices-like Walkman players using a 3.5mm to 3.5mm stereo cable.

It's a 2008 model in Sony's hi-fi system lineup, but it still features a cassette deck.

I'll be on irc in 5 ... it rocks

Edit: you're right, it's much bigger ... and from what little I've heard and I hope it's not my imagination seems to be a cleaner sq. 2nd edit: I just read the site says "has a deeper, wider sound stage and even smoothier sound than Mullard 5AR4," although I agree with the smoothier sq, hard to tell that sound stage is any wider, but I'll keep listening ...

Found some old speakers in the basement that I set up on either side of the TV. Have them connected to my normal setup and a BT receiver to listen to music form the A828

Mmmhhh.. the AudioFire4 sounds even better than my old Gina20. The M-Audio Quattro sounds like a Sound Blaster in comparison...

More weight/stability for the (already pretty heavy) cast iron platter, easier to get rid of dust/static than velours or felt mats... and it looks damn cool.
