Just go to Setttings--> General settings-->Display-->LcdSettings-->Backlight--> and then on "on" or the time you like

This is an "all or nothing" solution. What the OP wants is to keep the backlight on when using the text viewer just like when watching a video in mpegplayer.

Well I don't use the textviewer that often, but that seems to be a nice feature.

It is really a very nice feature. Two weeks ago I had to read a text in front of the class and I put the .txt file on the Sansa and read it from there. My teacher then said:
"I liked the fact that you read from your PDA, you get half a point for this" and then I said:
"Well it's a MP3 Player, not a PDA"
"Ooh, Ok..."

Heh, same exact thing happens on my Sansa with the MicroSD patch. Also, when you're testing it, are you testing it without any other patches applied, just that one? If you are also using the MSD patch when testing it, try just leaving your sansa on for an hour or two (Timeouts take forever...) and see if it gives you an error

Yes. My plan is to rip out the scrollwheel functions and merge them into the new bubbles. It should be quite easy.

Is it just slow or is your Sansa locking up again with a MicroSD card? Can people please post their experiences with the MicroSD patch (I don't have a card, so I can't test it out)? We need to find what is common in your setup and other people's, who have the same problem.

How would you feel about adding in the patch to make Battery Bench work?
Seems like a pretty simple one to me:

* battery_bench has to be patched to work with sansa. The quick and dirty fix provided here is that no measurement buffering is being used but instead an instant file update is forced when voltage values are changing.

I'm having issues with the latest build too, June 16th,

I notice a long pause at bootup, and the player can hang without any error messages (cannot move cursor or do anything) if I stop the currently playing song and head to the root menu using the power button (I have my start state set to resume playback).

Its intermittent though and I have been able to enter the menu without crashing on occasion.

Additionally the database after about the 5th initialize still doesn't show all my music.

I have a 2gig MicroSD and an e250

I'm going back to the 8th Jun build which was the last one to have no problems. An annoying setback I'm sure that the developers will fix in time.

Well,it looks like SD card is found by rockbox,but it just takes ages to build database(it starts from 0 to(for me) cca.112(slooow),then in fast fashion show some ascending numbers like 235,421,562,1000).After that,files are visible but when it comes to play music or movies(other files i did not try)from
card,it freezes.Like it was mentioned here,previous builds worked fine.

Fixed, it was even easiler than I thought. Now go and get your "Bubbles" fix. Don't blame me if you need to enter a "Buubles 12 Step Program".

Just uploaded a new version with an update "MicroSD Card" patch which should speed things up- place test. The long startup time is gone also.

No, however it is part of the "Google Summer of Code", so hopefully we will see it before Autumn.
