The static noise is being caused by the missing FM chip in the EU versions, the line in channel for FM is still present but only transmits noise.

In the beginning it wasn't mentioned that the noise affects only EU firmware (which don't have FM Radio) that's why there was a small confusion.
But now LineIn1 is muted, so no more static. |

hey just wanted to start off by saying THANKS!!! this is a way cool build but for some reason the scroll wheel doesn't respond when i am trying to use it in rockbox(scroll down-b scroll up-a). i thought it was the changes patch so i took of your build, applied the changes patch to the source from svn and the problem was gone :S what could be wrong here?

Is this the static 'whine' that occurs when the LCD backlight is on?, sounds like some sort of signal interference to me, they got around it with the original firmware so I'm sure the Rockbox dev's will find a way.

But I do have a radio chip in mine thats whats puzzling me, how is the radio chip connected to the backlight, if it is the interference from the line in connection to the radio chip shouldn't it be on all the time, regardless of the backlight?
Maybe the orginal firmware keeps the line in muted until the radio function is initialised, to get around the static. Oh well, its worth a shot, I might try the latest daily build and see how it goes. If I get this SVN thing, the latest daily build should have the changes in it right? EDIT: I'm a believer it works perfectly, the bit about the FM chip and the EU version threw me off a bit but the whine is gone and thats really the important thing. Can't wait for the next build with all the bells and whistles, its amazing how far this thing as come, a few months ago we didn't even have sound, now all we need is the USB stack so we never have to boot into the OF again ,

It is an issue of how much gain is used on line1 in. Since the one in SVN was very high, it was picking up even the slightest electromagnetic interference.

woot woot new update. 1st to download
![]() And you did my request to move Playlists to the top of the Context Menu ![]() EDIT: I see that you actually moved Playlist Catalog to the top. I realize that many people would use this to switch playlists, but I was thinking that "Playlist" should be on top, so that you can find songs inside the current playlist. Also I played around with the FM Radio. It's pretty cool. Doesn't really work yet tho. EDIT2: Everything seems to work fine. Nothing is broken ![]() One very minor bug I noticed is that in the Shutdown menu, a couple of the items are duplicated
