Hmmmm.
Hi, Charles.
I think everyone understands that you don't have to have your own build, and that you spend your own time and energy making it, and we all appreciate that. It would be nice, however, if, when you say you will be releasing the next build, you could either release it or at least let people know that there is a delay. There are many people that really like your build, and when you announce that you will be releasing a new build, we all anxiously await it. Warmest regards, Satan |

Haha, thank you, gentlemen. I had just wanted to politely point out to Charles that people are waiting, particularly when he gives a release date. I believe we all realize that things come up unexpectedly and cause delays.
Kugel, I tried your build a long time ago. I believe the only reason I went with Charles' build over yours, was because his was the last one I tried, and it seemed good. I don't believe I thought there was anything wrong with yours. Maybe I'll give yours another try. |

Yes there are a lot of people waiting, but this is something Charles did for himself originally, not for the general public. He just made it public after seeing that others might want it. What everyone needs to do is just leave him alone and when it gets updated then you can update your Sansa. Otherwise just wait. I'm using his last build and have not had 1 problem. As far as him saying that he was going to get out a new build on xx day...well he has a life and sometimes it is more important than this. The way I used to do things was very simple. The more people bugged me the longer it took, they finally got the message and let me do things in my own time. If you need a build sooner, make your own. There are excellent instructions on the rockbox.org site. My 2 cents worth I'm off my soapbox now.

I understand what you're saying, and I agree with most of it, and, in my first message, I tried to explain that I understood that Charles was spending his own time and energy releasing his builds. The point I was trying to politely make is that whether you're being paid or not, when you tell people you're going to do something, it's good to try to do it. Everyone understands that things come up unexpectedly that may cause a person to not be able to do what he said he would do. I was simply suggesting that, rather than repeatedly telling people when he will release the build and then leaving everyone hanging, if he could leave a quick message letting us know there was a delay, we would all really appreciate it. Again, Charles, we all appreciate your time and effort, and we realize you don't have to release your builds. I'm not flaming you ( I would never flame anyone, as I am not a flamer). Hahaha, lakemurray, you've kind of pinned me down there. Hmmm. Maybe I AM a flamer and I've just been deceiving myself? Could the Father of Lies be living a lie? That would be quite ironic. Still, I have to say, no, I am not.
wapz, I certainly hope Charles doesn't retire from this messageboard any time soon! Again, I hadn't intended any harsh criticism toward him, and we all really do appreciate him releasing his builds. |
