Skullcandy VS Sennheiser

Iv been thinking about buying some Sennheiser headphones, because for me, Earbuds just dont cut it anymore, but yesterday I was looking inside JB Hi-Fi (very very very good electronsics store) and I saw a brand Iv never seen before, Skullcandy, after getting home and looking around on the net about them, Iv seen they have made some pretty good headphones, so Iv made up my mind...sorta, there are the two Im thinking of getting:

Skullcandy Skullcrushers

or

Sennheiser 435's

What do you think?

Keep in mind that these are "audiophiles" talking. Many, many posts on Head-fi come across as self-important and borderline insane. These are people who trade their $200 cable for a $240 cable because it "has a warmer sound" and things like that. That being said, there is some fantasic information over there.

Those Sennheiser 435's seem to be very new and there isn't a ton of info on them. I absolutely love my Sennheiser PX-100's, though they are small, open, portable headphones, not like what you're looking at.

Headroom gives the 435's a 4 out of 5 for value. "The sound is definitely quite warm overall, but still nicely punchy and clear in the highs with the mid-ranges typically recessed a bit. All in all, a decent headphone for portable player use and for bass-loving listeners on a tight budget... Man, yet another thumpy, well-priced, solid performing can from the headphone gurus over at Sennheiser!" That came from here.

Keep in mind that I haven't actually listened to either of these headphones, but spent a lot of time on Head-Fi before deciding on my own phones.

Sennheiser, all the way. They do have a goood reputation (haven't heard the 435's, but every phone I know from Sennheiser sounds nice). - While Skullcandy's not one of the best rated manufacturers, to put it nicely.

You should give the Sennheiser CX300 a try - you'd be in for a surprise. I'd bet they sound better than the 435. Not to mention the better noise isolation.

You should give the Sennheiser CX300 a try - you'd be in for a surprise. I'd bet they sound better than the 435. Not to mention the better noise isolation.

I can vouch for the CX300, they sound great, the only problem is that the soundstage is not quite as good as full-sized headphones.

Yes, unfortunately all IEMs that I heard are like that. Guess one can't have bass, isolation and soundstage all in one phone. (That's why I use my AKGs at home, where I don't need the isolation...)

there are several fairly good earbuds for 100 bucks.... i would recommend the v-moda vibes.... rich sound, but still detailed highs, though they roll off a little around 10kHz.... if you can afford it, go with the shure e500pth...... AMAZING!.... they actually use three separate drivers per ear to create a detailed, balanced soundstage.

The E500s don't have that much bass (still more than the UE10, though), as I gathered from Head-Fi?

Waiting for the V-Moda Vibes, it's said that they should have a more spacious soundstage, compared to most other IEMs. But OTOH, they're not completely isolating/closed.

okay just saying SKULLCANDYS SUCK so get the sennheisers. im not just saying this because im a ater or somthin, but ive had skullcandys and they sound eh but they break terribly easy and bass is terrible. sennheisers may not look as appealing, but they do look more professional, and i have a pair of hd 428s and they sound AMMAZING, and ive had em for 6 months. they do require a burn in period of about 30 hours though. definetly go for the sennheisers. when you first buy them though, they will need to be burned in or you will hear no bass whatsoever. hope u take my advice.

Still, the comments here remain true. Sennheiser is a no brainer choice over SkullCandy crud IMO.

i have a pair of skull candy smokin buds and they SUCK!!!. the bass is overpowering, and the mids and highs are muddy and unclear. All in all, if ou buy skullcandy, be prepared to get headaches from the overwhelming, uncontroled bass

Haven't heard the Sennheisser's but don't get the skullcandy's unless u have money to buy another backup pair. I have gone through 3 pairs of skullcandy's within the last 6 months. Bought a pair from a store about an hour away. those were my best pair they were skullcandy lowriders they sounded amazing but my cat chewed em up. Had another pair and all at 1 time they broke into 3 pieces when i went to take them of from around my neck. Got a new pair of hesh's and they r ok but already broke em'. get the sennheisser.
