Default won't turn on. tried everything. nothing works!

I was going to use my sandisk e250 as a bootable usb storage device to fix a computer and formatted it using HPUSBFW.EXE then copied the files needed to it and after disconnecting it it won't even turn on. Just the blue ring goes on and I have to hold the power button down to shut it off. I tried everything! Holding the rec button down when locked, removing the battery, the recovery tool... nothing works. When I connect it my computer it can't even install the hardware. Please help asap.

Nbb, do you have a v2 by the e250 on the back bottom right side?

You can try the e200tool with Linux to fix it.

Ra9600, that is the drive that pops up when you go into recovery mode.

Default e280 v2 help

I've read through the entire thread and two things are problematic.

1. I can't get to the ultimate fix part of the plan b/c when i put the hold button on (top edge, right side, see orange), hit the rec button (left side near top) and hit the power button (tiny "menu button on lower left side of face), the SanDisk screen rolls, changes to black and on the black in a very tiny font it says "Please unlock the hold switch to Power on. <return> System Shutdown.

therefore, I can't get to recovery mode. Am I doing something wrong?

2. I, too, have the entire PC-won't-read-the-da$%- player thing going on. Even after uninstalling it in device manager and rebooting, it won't be read.

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Foxphipps, we do not know if or how to get into recovery mode on the e200v2, yet.

Well, fine then.

Gotta admit. This kinda blows. I didn't go out and buy this one lightly. I did a lot of research in october/early-mid November and the e280 came with the most solid info.

Now I discover that it was all solid on the v1 and v2 sucks... sucks something I shouldn't say here.

I'm going to keep looking for a fix for a bit. PsychoHubby is all for returning them. I'll give it a few more days.

Sigh.

UPDATE:
1. The player is read on my in-laws computer. Note: The player was read on my home computer for about a week-and-a-half before refusing.

2. On hold with SanDisk. They're debating whether to give me the process for restarting the e2v2 in recoveriy mode.

Will let you know.

Default Update 2

OK...think I may have it.

With the player off and in hold mode, press the rewind key down while plugging into USB.

Should this be what's there: 5 folders, res_info, mtable, version.sdk, sys_conf.

If this is it, will running the ultimate fix be "safe" to do?

Also, hubby and I each bought one the day after Thanksgiving in a costco sale. Both say v2 on the back plate. When hooked up in "recovery" mode, his reads as an e200P. Mine reads as a Sansa E280

I have read through EVERY ultimate fix...

and it always involves rewriting the firmware in recovery.

However, whenever I actually do this, it just freezes at "writing main image."

Also, I can actually access the original firmware, but all the music is corrupted. Yet the radio works fine.

When I plug in my Sansa via MSC mode, TWO 0-byte drives are recognized on my computer.

I have tried replacing the version.txt, and the sansa.fmt does not format my drive whatsoever.

PLEASE HELP! D:

If you could give me any help or steer me in the right direction at all on this, I would be terribly grateful. The last time I turned my sansa off, the power button decided to stick. Now it won't turn on at all. Is there some way I could fix this?

You could try unscrewing the back and popping off the screen.

You can try unsticking your button that way.

Anyone have a clue to my problem?

I'm guessing the memory or flash got screwed up. >.>

Default Please help...this did not work for me

I tried the ultimate fix...but I couldn't get it to work. My device is in a constant state of "connecting" but it never connects. The device does not appear in My Computer, and there is a Windows popup window that says "Found New Hardware MTP Device" .. but I can't make anything happen. I followed the instructions, and now my device has been wiped of all preexisting music. I've tried to connect the device to various USB ports. The very same ports work with my PDA, so I think the USB ports are okay. Any help would be greatly appreciated. The device is only a week old!
