muffinzrock,

You ROCK! My son, home on his last night of leave from the Coast Guard, froze his Sansa E250. I tried a bunch of different suggestions, but then came across your ultimate fix via google.

Needless to say, it worked! Thanks a lot. Now my son will have his tunes to listen to while at sea. Thanks again,

czar

I have this same problem! My Sansa e250 (not R, and I don't see any version#) hasn't been talking to my computer for over a month, now.

Windows (XP SP2) always says "USB device not recognized" and the Sansa doesn't show up in My Computer in any mode I've tried (MTP, MSC, Recovery). I don't now how to reformat without seeing it show up in My Computer. I tried another computer and it does the same thing. (And I've heard of someone else having the same problem with three Sansas!)

Other than connecting to the PC, the device works fine...charging, menus, etc...it's just that I've been listening to the same playlists for 6 weeks.

Is this one of the problems that this fix fixes? I love reading all the success stories and I want to be one, too!

01.02.18A

I've read that some other people think that it is a bug from this firmware version...or from downloading this firmware with Sansa Updater, since people who downloaded it manually don't seem to get this problem?

Kolsoum, sounds like the cable or the port on the Sansa then.

Hello everyone!

I have a e280 and I was trying to fix with your great solution when this thing did not work :

if you have a EUROPEAN player, download this:
http://perso.wanadoo.fr/Stephane.Cou...0-1.02.15E.zip

The file does not exist anymore and I guess I have a european player since I bought it in France. And now the Sansa Updater wants me to upload the latest version of the firmware (1.02.18) before I finished the "ultimate fix".

What should I do ?

Ok, I have a Sansa E200 series (don't know exactly what it is) it's the 8 gig version if that helps. And I can get it into recovery mode. It says "
Please connect USB cable

USB cable connected
Enter USB2.0 MSD mode"

And It stops responding, so I'm kinda stuck any help?

Now it boots to main page and the screen whites out and the damned thing reboots.
This is the third time I tried to post this because my internet is FUBAR.

Help Even manufacturer mode doesn't help...

Hello, I've a big problem since yesterday:

My Sansa e260 (v1, American) doesn't start any more. The animated boot screen appears and disappears again, then the scroll wheel turns blue and the display stays black forever...

It is possible to get into the recovery mode, but there is no effect when plugging in the usb cable - my computer doesn't recognize any usb-device (connecting to another pc doesn't change anything).

I also tried to unbrick my Sansa in the manufacturer mode in Ubuntu. Here is the terminal log:

----part 1-----
ubuntu@ubuntu:~$ sudo ./e200tool recover BL_SD_boardSupportSD.rom
e200tool v0.2.3-alpha (c) by MrH 2006, 2007
Searching for device 0781:0720 ... found!
Initializing USB stub (4780 bytes) ... done!
Writing 'BL_SD_boardSupportSD.rom' to address 0x10600000
Searching for device 6666:e200 ... 9 8 7 6 5 4 3 2 1 0 not found!
----part 2-----
ubuntu@ubuntu:~$ sudo ./e200tool i2cprogram i2c-e260.bin
e200tool v0.2.3-alpha (c) by MrH 2006, 2007
Programming i2c rom (address=87) range 0x0000-0x2000 from 'i2c-e260.bin'
Searching for device 6666:e200 ... 9 8 7 6 5 4 3 2 1 0 not found!
-----part 3-----
ubuntu@ubuntu:~$ sudo ./e200tool init
e200tool v0.2.3-alpha (c) by MrH 2006, 2007
Searching for device 0781:0720 ... found!
Initializing USB stub (4780 bytes) ... done!
-------------------
When using first the init-command (part 3) and then the i2cprogram (part2), it says directly
"Searching for device 6666:e200 ... 9 8 7 6 5 4 3 2 1 0 not found!"

It doesn't matter if using "...recover..." first or last, I tried both.

Anyone has further ideas? Thanks in advance!

Definitely yes. Again I tried to follow the instructions of chrisjs162216 from the FAQ ("Sansa will not turn on / only blue ring appears").

Everything's fine, only the device 6666:e200 is never found :-(

Has anybody further ideas?

Try once more, but while pc is booting.
I mean plug-in player in recovery mode while OS haven't been loaded.
then if OS will find your player (do not unplug device) try to follow FAQ once more.
If OS won't recognize your sansa, try to hold menu button 15 sec till full turn off and then (don't unplug USB) turn on unit again.
if still nothing, turn sansa on and plug in USB while your player is still booting.
Good luck.

I was having some problems with my E250 player with not recognizing songs that displayed on the PC but not when I went to use the player. I followed the instructions in the thread and everything seemed successful as I didn't encounter any of the problems I read about in the first 5 or so pages. I tried to read the whole thread but didn't see something regarding my newfound issue. After I guess formatting and updating the firmware I was able to add songs successfully to the player, but for some reason it won't let me go past 105 songs. It shows space left but gives me an error message. Here are two images to help you see the problem. Thanks for the effort guys/girls ( gotta be pc )

Edit: I got the songs to sync using Windows Media Player. I guess my updated question would be why it wouldn't work with MMJB after previously being able to do so?
