Link doesnt work, can someone rehost it please ?
Thank you for posting this I have corrected the link. You can now find the firmware files at http://files.zefie.com/PMP/sansa/e20...mware/1.00.12/

Note: to use these you need to use a extractor like Izarc

I am not talking about that. I am talking like CPU speed(Most like OK tho), RAM, Video card, and other cards.

Sounds like it should work unless you have something in your computer that Ubuntu does not like.

oh... then is there a reasson why my computer doesn't detect my sansa both in Recovery and the one you hafta hold the middle button.

I tried Device Manager to uninstall then install... didn't work cuz it said cannot find the device. And i also tried rollback and update.. same thing happened.

Its not the cables fault cuz my brother use the same computer and cable to put new songs to his Sansa e250 and it detects for his.. not mine (Same thing as mine)

HELP ME
On occasion I have seen these symptoms in e2xx's that I have purchased from eBay. Very often all that is wrong is that the memory board has become unseated from the main board. Try removing the metal back plate exposing the battery. With the player face down (on a cloth) press down firmly but not too hard on the rubber rectangle. This will seat the memory. At least this is an easy step you can try.

Okay so I tried the ultimate fix 6 times and it did not work. I gave up, decided to try it again later (now). On the second time, the m16 file thing did not show up and the sansa is only going
LUN0 locked
LUN0 unlocked
LUN0 locked
LUN0 Unlocked

What should I do? My screen, after reformatting returns to "load main image failed. switch to recovery mode". Anyone know what is going on or should I just return it for a new one?

Do you have an e200R or e200, and did you use the e200R or e200 firmware?

Great Guide, but it's not working for me. Just registered to try to fix my frozen issue with a C240.

I can get into recovery mode just fine, everytime. However, I drag the sansa.fmt file (with proper extension), along with the downloaded firmware files, It seems to "upgrade" fine, but upon reboot, it's still frozen. For clarification, it's frozen on the Logo screen that appears when it would normally be loading. It also turns off/on fine.

I tried 2 different firmware versions, same result. Not sure If I should try formatting the 16mb.

Do not format the 16MB-Recovery! That will cause more issues and you would need to use the e200tool.

Are you sure you are using the right files for the c200?

Yeah, downloaded right here:
http://files.zefie.com/PMP/sansa/c200/v1/firmware/
Last one listed, American version (I assume its what I need, don't know what the other versions are or which I had before).

Try this fix now, I had the same problem, and this fixed it:

Let me know if it works for you also.

^^ didn't work. It doesn't enter the diagnostic mode, only the "locked" indicator is shown.

After locking it with the lock button, INSTEAD of holding the "Record" button while powering it up, you press down on AND KEEP HOLDING IT DOWN the "down" button (the one with the LONG "dash" with 3 shorter dash lines below it. Then, push the power on/Menu button, and let it boot up to this special diagnostic mode. Once you see all the choices scrolling up the screen, let go of the "down" button.

I understand the steps, it just not entering diagnostic mode with me. Once I click the menu/on button, it's as if it's starting up normally.
