Agreed, I briefly tried a case on a Zip and took it off...it interfered with blind operation, and the little sucker is tough. Drop it, and if it does hit the ground, it just bounces. My one remaining Zip is still scratch free after 2 years.

Looks nice. I always thought the red Fuze with it's metal flake was the best looking DAP I ever sansa owned. It would really light up when the sunlight hit it. Too bad it met a messy end when a glass of OJ got spilled on it.

Sony MZ-E520 in pink, oldschool style! (Discs are recorded via optical cable in real-time SP mode on a Type-R deck that I didn't take a picture of.)

A lot of hoopla was made about the Sharp Auvi MD players and recorders (I used to have a DS8, and I loved the crap out of it) but the 2003-2004 era Sony players with digital amps sounded just as good. Nobody really seemed to talk about them, which is a shame. They have a more neutral sound than the Sharps, which I tend to prefer, and don't use that rare dual-mono arrangement, which means I can still use the same headphones I use with my phone.

My phone is my other portable, a Nexus 4, which is also my camera, so I can't take a picture of it without breaking several laws of physics. The earphones there are what are now called the UE 600vi (mine are the older super fi 5 vi, which has only a one-button remote), which are supposed to go with my phone. I have another pair of SF5vi that cut out in one channel due to stress on the 3.5mm plug, I'm probably going to hack the cable down and turn them into a "short" pair to go with the E520's wired remote. Right now I've just been tucking the excess length of the earphones into my hoodie, but it's annoying to deal with.

The E520 kicks the ever-loving crap out of the Nexus 4 in terms of sound quality, even comparing FLAC through GoneMad Music Player on the N4 vs. 292kbps "SP" ATRAC on the E520. It's not even remotely close.

Yeah I know, I'm pretty much satisfied with the Shures atm. I just want to upgrade to a higher tier of headphones if I ever decide to upgrade again (which may take 9-10 months, maybe more)

Sennheiser Momentum On-Ear plus green iPod Shuffle. I particularly like the i-controls on the phones, never having had an iPod before.

I bought one two weeks ago and I haven't heard anything like it. The latest firmware 1.2.8 makes it sound amazing and each firmware has it's own sound signature. Won't be updating if the sound changes too much.

Colour matching not gone so well, but a good combo.
