As a matter of fact, I do have the WS55. The main difference is that these JVC's have more clarity now through the mids and upper mids(assuming no EQ is in use on either one). That wasn't the case right out of the box, but it is now.

does bass response still hold a decent comparison but with added clarity on the JVC.

Bass-wise, they're pretty close. Hard to say one is better than the other at this point, the difference in clarity makes it kind of tricky to compare in a quick A-B comparison.

They're the best closed headphones I've had the pleasure to use, for sure. Perhaps the Ultrasone Sig Pro could be better but otherwise this seems like the best closed at a reasonable price.

Nope. I don't really see the need at this point...I can use Mediamonkey and not iTunes to load it, and the headphones I'll be using with this setup really don't need any EQ. I'm not sure on just how far along the port is, either.

Only 47.6 so far....converted some FLACs to ALAC, just because I have more than enough space...lol. My entire library of lossy music wouldn't even fill this thing.
I'll be adding a whole crapload of MP3 tunes to it either tonight or tomorrow though.
