Not quite. I jumped on them a bit too early and paid the ebay price several days before the awesome deal on Amazon came and went. Still well worth the deniro, in my opinion. Right now, from what I've listened to, I'd rank the HA-S500 as best-in-class in its price range.

They're the best JVC's I've heard yet. Out of the box they sounded like the HA-S600's that I own....lots of bass and slightly recessed mids, but with some use they have easily surpassed them and opened up sound-wise. They sound nice with just about everything I have in my library, but they particularly shine with electronic music.

Despite what the numbers in the model name might suggest, the S500 greatly outclasses the S600. And of course you know I have both....lol

I adore the thing, haven't had any issues with it yet apart from once where it crashed but that was entirely my fault for unknowingly putting a 24bit file on there. Impressingly enough it actually played it, it just crashed when I tried to skip through the song.

dont suppose you have a set of the AT WS55 to compare them too? I have those and like them but dont love them. I am historically a JVC fan
