Thank you guys

I still use it because it has line-in recording. The sound is nice but the capacity is too small, particularly when I use 320kbs rips. I made the interconnect using a section of IDE cable and epoxy-putty as isolation.

thumbs up

That's a very nice cable, Frandroid. How did you mold the putty so nicely?

I also hoard my old, useless IDE and CAT5 cables for such purposes.

It started as a rough blob that I tried to shape into a cylinder using a smooth, slightly humid toothpick, then I sanded it with 400 grit sandpaper. I finished with with a thin coat of superglue just to prevent chipping. I'll probably be painting it next with the inevitable black.

This is the product I used:

One can find similar stuff in supermarkets, for example. It's just a 2 part putty that hardens within a couple of hours after you mix equal amounts of each bar.

IDE cables come cheap and I think they work for this kind of stuff (the solder pretty well, I had no problems). Being this short, I don't think they'll add more resistance than a standard interconnect.

I also use CAT5 cables but for other purposes:

Maybe try getting a cheap broken Fuze in your favorite color from eBay or such, and swap the housing with the 8GB model.
