No FM radio

i bought sansa e 250 yesterday in europe but it doesn't have FM radio i need american version firmware? someone help me please... thanx

If you bought the "normal" version of the player which was released in the last year, then I have to dissapoint you, because this version doesn´t have a fm-chip in the european-version (because of license problems in europe) so you can´t listen radio and can´t solve this problem with the american-firmware - it´s an hardware not software problem.

Unless you bought the "new" european version of the player which has an fm-chip (released since december´06).

Now you make me a little bit nervous.
I also bought the "new" version of the player last week on amazon.de because of the radio-feature and gave the "old" version without FM back (see my signature).
It was sent to me yesterday but I hadn´t time to use the player until now.
I can´t imagine that Sandisk /Amazon offers a player which should have the radio-feature and costs more than the normal version and then it doesn´t have this option.
Besides a lot of websites announced/ affirmed the release of the player with radio-feature in europe:

Maybe the reason for this problem is that the player have the fm-chip but this feature is deactivated by the firmware. (read in "chip"-article --> Link)

Edit: I found an interesting thread (--> link): In this thread someone asked what the firmware-version 01.02.15F is?
And "Snoopy_jb" responded to it:

E - europe without Radio (Tuner FM) chip, lower volume level etc.
F - europe with Full Functional Tuner, Higher volume level

I don´t know if that is correct

Why don´t you try the current firmware 1.02.15A, because your firmware 01.00.12A is very old ?

Can you post an link to the webshop where you bought it ?

I don´t know/speak this language. I believe it´s Turkish ?!
But can you show me where the radio-feature ("FM tuner" or something like this) is mentioned in the description ?

OK, as I said before I would guess that the european-firmware has deactivated the radio-feature. And so I would load the current american-firmware on the player (maybe yours is too old ?).

I´ll activate my bought player at the first time tomorrow and then I´ll see whether I have the same problem.

By the way, can you post a detailed description to load the american-firmware on the player with the european-firmware, especially of changing/editing the files „version.sdk“ & „version.txt“. (I searched for it in the forum but unfortunately there are only a few descriptions which aren´t detailed enough).

Edit: I took a look at some webshops which sells Sansa e250 player with a FM tuner and they always mentioned their factory number SDMX4R-2048K-E70 .
So your player must have the same factory number (you can see it on the bottom of the package).

I have activate my bought player today for the first time and my player fortunately has the Fm-Tuner chip, so that the menu shows the radio-feature and it works well.
( that proofs me that the sansa player with fm-chip are available in europe/germany !!)

For you -AfreshLonely- there are 2 facts that document that you have a player with radio-feature (in europe!) after checking them on my player:
1. Your factory-number has to be SDMX4R-2048K-E70.
2. Your player has to be an european-firmware which has "F" as the last letter like 01.02.15F (as I posted).

Besides: I don´t believe that the "demo-video" on the player is an argument for having the radio-feature, this demo-video seems to be on each player.

So I hope I could help you with this !

yess my factory-number has to be SDMX4R-2048K-E70.

my player has "E" firmware but i'm install "A" then show radio icon...

can i add radio-chip inside my player ?

I´m not sure if you now affirm with your answer that your player has this factory number (so you have the right player) ?!
And the fact that you get the player with an "E" instead of a "F"-Firmware ex factory can show you have the wrong one.

But if not, I think you can´t add a fm-chip yourself retrospectively (the only component I would add/replace is the battery what Sandisk makes possible). Besides where want you to find someone who offers this fm-chip ? Sorry !

One thing I would say: Before I search for a seller who possibly add a fm-chip I would demand from the webshop where I bought it to replace the wrong player with a right one (with fm-chip), because it´s your right if the webshop has mentioned this feature in the description.

Anyone know if Pixmania are currently shipping the new FM chipped Sansa E200 series players?

From a manufacturing point of view, these players whether FM enabled or not should all have the exact same chip layout but have different firmware with/without FM radio enabled.
I make this assumption as construction of the physical product is simple with a single configuration but with different chip capabilities. i.e. 2 memory chips on all players but with varying data spaces on each.

So if Pixmania are shipping newer models without FM enabled but it contains the FM chip could somebody tell us?
