Default Realtek Audio Problems

I have an Intel based motherboard with Realtek HD audio built in to the board.
For the past month, if I use Media Monkey, WMP, DbPoweramp, anything, to rip a cd, or to transfer audio files to my e250 or my Zen M, I lose playback volume.
The Master Volume slider drops to zero, and I can't raise it or adjust it with the mouse.
Everything is listed as working in Device Manager, and the only way I can get sound back, is to uninstall, and install the Realtek drivers and reboot. I can't figure out what is over ruling the Realtek HD audio system. If anybody has any ideas please help. I have been working on this for over a month. I even ordered a sound card last night to see if I can work around this problem.
