Unhappy converted video black levels

I am converting my movies to .mp4 with a custom profile in AVS Converter and it's working pretty good. I even got rid of the black bars because AVS has an option to stretch a little. All the actors look a bit skinnier now though. No problem.

My main problem is, the black levels in the Sony demo videos look absolutely brilliant. Deep, Kuro-like blacks. Looks stunning! I can't get the black levels of my converted videos to look this good though. The deepest black in my own files is greyish. Does anyone know how to achieve the best black levels on my Sony X1050? Maybe edit the pre-converted video in a video editor like Sony Vegas or something? Help me out!
