Default Looking for gear that can take a beating *sound quality doesn't matter*

So when I'm on the computer at unholy times of the night, I use earphones. Sound quality doesn't matter, I only use them to watch TV shows and random videos. The problem is, they always end up dying.

The first earphones I used for this purpose were the sonys bundled with my sony walkman, they worked great but eventually died because the wires got all battered, but this was mostly my fault because I really wasn't careful about them at all.

After that I bought some cheap 15$ earphones that were on sale, for some reason where I live it's almost impossible to find any headphones for under 15$(Canada in middle of nowhere). I was real careful with them. But after only 3 months of use, the soldering that attached the wires to the jack broke. A pillow was lightly pressing on the jack from the side and that's all it took! >.> It wasn't a big ass pillow either;

I really don't want to use my audeo pfes for this purpose, they're so fragile it stresses me out

So should I:

1) Attempt to fix the second pair of earphones. This would require a certain investment for the soldering gun, a new jack. I'm guessing around 40$. No guarantee it will work..

2) Buy a cheap but solid pair of headphones that you suggest, less expensive than the first option but could break. No IEMs because I think they're more fragile. No flat ibuds or non-IEM earbuds, those annoy me because you need to put the sound real high to hear anything.
