Default PMPs in Canada

Hey! I currently have an iPod touch. It was fantastic for about a year, then I started getting issues with it. I am constantly having to restore it, I can't get more memory for it, and it's laggy as anything, and I can hardly getting any apps for it now since it isn't supported software wise anymore. I was wondering if anyone knows of good alternatives that are available in Canada. I have been looking at the Galaxy Players, but they are fairly scarce here, and I am pretty disappointed that Samsung has put parts in that seem so outdated with some of the smartphones that are coming out. I have also looked into getting a no contract phone, but it looks like I am gonna have to put at lest $350+ to get one. The other option I have thought about is maybe getting the Nexus 7 Tablet and maybe an iPod Nano to use for music. The only downside there is that I don't have anything if I want more space on either device. Plus 16GB on the Nano is pretty small. Any ideas?

Thanks,

Grimey

i would scour ebay and craigslist like no other for used tablets and phones.
i am not sure what your budget is but you can find some decent android phones for low prices on ebay and such places.
i also don't know what your hunger for sq is if you want a higher quality sq out of a pmp like device i would try to get a samsung galaxy s which has a wolfson dac as far as i remember, but if you want a pmp to listen to music as well as use apps and play games i would look for a samsung galaxy s2 which has a faster dual core cpu and a higher rez screen than the original galaxy s. both of these have micro sd slots but i you want to drop the ball the sony Walkman z series is available and it runs android but has no sd slot (which is why i didn't look at it for a pmp) but to each his own.

Yeah, the Walkman Z looked pretty slick to me, but the lack of microSD is a pretty bad hit I think. My touch right now has 16 GB, which is decent, but my library has a whole lot more music. I don't necessarily need on the PMP, but it's nice to get a good bit of it, and 16 GB is just too small. I'm starting to maybe think I'd be best to just get the SGP. There isn't any word of the next model coming anytime soon is there? I have also found the Galaxy S at a few places fairly cheap, and it seems like a pretty decent deal, although I wouldn't mind the power of the S2, mostly just because I figure that the better specs might make it last a little longer. Thanks again!

The SGP 4.2 is the newest one, that just recently was released.

Yes, I have looked at that one. I believe it was May. I'm tempted to wait to see if they release another, but I have also been looking at options for over a year now. It seems to me like the 4.0 would be a little better than the 4.2, plus the 4.2 seems to be a little harder to find in Canada.

What makes you say that?

Well, the specs are pretty well identical, other than the cameras, which the 4.0 is better, and the battery, which the 4.2 seems better. The ppi is higher on the 4.0 too, is it not? They seem to be pretty similar other than that. Also, I haven't seen much as far as where to buy the 4.2 is concerned.
