Default Reloading firmware works miracles!

My question is this....I was having a problem where I found some tracks on the my e270 where the sound would cut out in the middle of a song. By all appearances the song was still playing. Fast forwarding, skipping forward or backward tracks and the sound came back on. I reloaded the track to the player...same problem. Reformatted player....same problem. Reloaded firmware (I was already using new version, but Slaughter recommended reloading)....and VOILA!! problem solved. In this particular case I don't understand how 99.99% of the songs can play correctly (I have 1000+ loaded) and then I could have a problem with a small # of songs and reloading firmware solves the issue. It just doesn't make any sense to me. Can any of the techie folks out there held me understand this?
