Smile Is Bluetooth lossless?

Hi, new to forum and new to the idea of using a player with FLAC or similar lossless files.

I have read a lot of forums and threads and it's obvious that there is a real appreciation for quality sound provided by the lossless files, especially when played thru headphones and hard-wired to amps.

What I have not found much information about is whether there is an appreciable advantage of purchasing this type of music player (not just 'any' mp3 player, but those which can play FLAC etc) and using a bluetooth interface e.g. I have a set of Monster Clarity HD speakers with a bluetooth interface.

To my knowledge, bluetooth also uses a compression system (does it?) and therefore this may negate any advantage of using bluetooth for lossless files...

So thats my question, can you have one of these players, use bluetooth and still get the music quality expected, or is hard-wired the 'only' way to go?

Appreciate any advice on that? Thank you!
