Default Claw's UI makes my S9 very laggy

I've installed Claws UI, have not changed any settings yet, and anything that is supposed to have a smooth motion (like the menu items falling into place in the main menu, or screen transitions) is now choppy and slow. And there is now a 1sec longer delay switching between screens. As soon as I delete Claws UI, it's nice and smooth again.

Is this normal? If so, thanks but no thanks. I feel like it's really putting a heavy load on my S9.

Yeah Claw UI does slow things down a bit. It's a trade off between fucntionality and speed. It speeds up considerably if you delete the launcher, but that is where the best features like auto-resume, dynamic playlists are so you might as well not have the UI if you do that.

I think the dynamic playlists and auto-resume are features that significantly improve the S9, while an extra couple of miliseconds between screens is pretty superficial.

The default icons falling animation is a bit of bug with Claw UI, it doesn't seem to manage it well, so it's not good to judge the speed on that alone. If you select one of the other icon arrival effects you'll find it a lot better - I use slide in and it's pretty zippy. You can speed up the animation too, or have no animation at all.

Wallpapers are the thing that slows it down the most. If you set the wallpapers to an image and then delete that image it will then display no wallpaper at all, not even the default (a black screen instead) and this is the fastest option and looks pretty cool and saves battery as those pixels are emmitting no light at all.

I've been using Claw's for quite some time. I guess there is a minor performance difference, but it's not as exaggerated on my s9 as you make it sound.

and you can change the speed at which the icons drop in.

What are dynamic playlists? Because I've been using just a regular playlist on iTunes to get my fix of music. (No flames please)

Dynamic playlists mean you create them on the go directly from the device, rather than loading them from your computer to the device.

In the case of Claw playlists, you can either create them by creating a list in your favourites list and then creating a playlist from your favourites, or you can add tracks directly to playlists you've already created.

In his playlist manager you can rearrange tracks or delete them from lists, you can name the playlists, you can set different EQ parameters to each playlist as well if you want. It's a pretty damn brilliant bit of UCI!

Nice tip! All I need to do is figure out is how to have a wallpaper so I can delete it.

The main menu is slow, indeed - especially since I use custom icons. But the screen I'm in most of the time, the music screen is swift enough. And the new 50-60fps launchers are excellent, next to firmware 2.50 which possibly also brought some speed increase. Browsing file lists is blazing and extremely responsive like never before for me.

I really don't see the lag issues, and i'm only using the 30fps browser.

A thought occurs: How many times have you updated (installed Claw's patches) over top of an old one? i was getting some slow downs and some erratic behavior and it turned out my settings files were corrupt.

So you know, back up your SOL directory and try deleting some settings. Let claw's UCI re-build them and see if it's any faster.
