Default c250 screen wont turn on

I recieved a sansa c250 and when I turn it on I get the blue ring lights up but the screen does not. I've searched around and found similar problems but none of the solutions seemed to work. I've switched the hold button so I can see the orange and plugged it into my computer while holding the record button. This does bring up a screen that says:
Mini-B->Device Mode
USB2.0MSD

Also then my computer recognizes it and the F drive pops up and it's called "16MB-Format" with a file in it called "version.txt." however if I click on that file I get an error message that says "cannot find F:/Version.txt would you like to create it?" I always click no.

I downloaded a file that contained files named firmware.mi4, font.fnt, header.txt, and pribootLoader.rom and I was supposed to drag and drop these into the F drive, but when I try to drop anything into that drive it says "Cannot copy (whatever file it is): cannot find the specified file. Make sure you specify the correct path and file name."

Anyone have any other suggestions or is it just a lost cause? Thank you in advance if anyone knows how to help.
