Help Charging using usb wall charging & micro sdhc compatibility

Hello,
I apologize if anybody has already asked these noob questions:
I have a brand new Sansa c250 v2 and I have tried a few times charging it with a USB AC wall charger (5v/500mA). I have tried charging it by both leaving it on, then charging it (attaching it to the usb wall charger) and also tried turning it off first, then charging it. It came half charged or that's what the battery indicator says and after trying to charge it (via usb wall charger) for 1 1/2 - 2 hrs, the battery indicator is still at where it was before. Am I doing something wrong?

Also, I would like to ask, would the Sansa c250 v2, firmware 03.01.14A support a 8gb micro sdhc? Hope you can help.
Thanks in advance.
