Zune Tells me to Wait, Wont work, Non Responsive or Detectable

I searched the threads out and did not see anyone having the same problem so hopefully I can get some help. My Zune hd is a little over a year old. Last week, the screen started giving me a Please Connect To PC message. So I obliged and I was told to wait. After waiting 4-5 hours, the screen still told me to wait. I unplugged my zune and let its batteries die, recharged, and got the same message. As it is plugged in, the screen occasionally flashes, but goes back to the same message. I used a different computer but still have no luck. No computer I use detects it as plugged in and I have no idea what to do.

You could try the following (from the power guide sticky):

• To Restart - Press both the home button and the media button (all content is deleted)
• To enter Recovery mode - Press and hold the on/off and media buttons for 15 seconds. The player restarts into Recovery mode and must be reconnected to the Zune Software to reinstall the player firmware (content is not erased).

I sincerely hope you have your media backed up. First do the recovery mode method stated above, then the full reset. I'm 60% sure the recovery mode will fix it, 99.9999% sure the reset will. It fixes basically any issue you could possibly have with your device, in my experience.

Sadly, when I press the home and media buttons the screen flashes and still gives me the same screen. I do have all my music backed up thanks to my old sansa player.

So when you do the reset, does it connect to your computer after you open up the software?

It does not recognize my player and does not detect if being plugged in on the USB port or in zune.

A few questions:

- Confirm this is a Zune HD 16/32GB we are talking about
- So you set the Zune back to default, restarted and still got the same message?
- It could be the cable, purchase another one and try your luck.
- Did you try to connect to a different USB port?
