Default Going to buy an archos av500- need media transefer help

OK I have decided to but the Archos av500 portable DVR. I am going to buy it at J and R eletronics in New York tomorow. I am really exited but I am a bit worried about getting video content onto the device. Whats the easiest and fastest way to get movies, dvd's and TV shows onto the AV500? I mainly want to get TV shows from my cable box onto the device is that easy to do?

It really depends on your cable box and what format it uses, reguardless you will probably have to do some encoding. But the good thing is that the AV500 supports alot of file types.

DVDs on the other hand can be esily ripped with the ZVM ripping guide or ireverter. TV shows can easily be downloaded though bittorrent sites but is illegal.

Sorry Smoke, i dont know enough about that box (or any cable box really) to answer your question. As long as you can get the media off of the box and onto your computer then there shouldnt be any problems converting it to the player.
