As USB 3.0 is working for at least on other person http://iaudiophile.net/forums/showthread.php?t=42481 my best guess it's an issue with your PC. Some PCs have the front and back USB ports set up differently so that might be the problem.

You also could try updating to the latest V2.29 firmware. That's here http://www.cowonglobal.com/zeroboard...no=456&bmenu=M. While that may give a better chance of connecting I'm not sure that will do any good as far as increasing transfer speed as that's usually limited to the internal speed of the player. I don't have the J3 but when I connect other USB devices that aren't USB 3.0 compliant I haven't noticed a major jump in transfer speed.

If you find the V2.29 firmware buggy and want to downgrade I'd check the Cowon J3 firmware thread http://www.anythingbutipod.com/forum...play.php?f=244. There's several links to direct downloads there that will let you get firmware versions that aren't available on the Cowon firmware site.
