Default best jvc buds under 20.00

Ive been using jvc hafx66 air cushions for years, loved the sound and fit. I need a replacement pair now, and they are discontinued. I listen to country and soft rock. The fx1x sounds like they are a little too bassy for what I listen to, so Im leaning towards the hafx101 or hafx40. Any suggestions or opinions would be helpful. Thanks

How about the JVC HA-FX67?

Default jvc hafx40 or hafx101

my friend has a pair they are different in sound and comfort. Thanks for the reply, just not sure if one of these two would be my best choice. And the fx1x sounds great except that strong bass seems a bit much for my type of music. Anyone else?

It seems that no one here is able to answer you. I suggest that you take a look at the head-fi forum. It has more traffic than this forum, so you could find your aswer there.

I have not heard the earphones that you consider but from what I have read the 101 is probably the safest choice. The 40 has piercing highs according to many. Of course, if could be that they won't be perceived as piercing by you, and on the contrary you could welcome their clarity...

Imo the best IEM for under $20 is the Soundmagic ES18. it is only $12 on Amazon. It has 10mm drivers and sounds very musical. It has nice bass that seems slightly boosted, however its bass sounds very natural. The JVC HAFX101 and HA-FX1x have bass that is greatly exaggerated and does not sound natural. The sound quality overall of the ES18 is so much better than the FX1x and FX101. The HAFX40 is much too bright, and doesn't sound natural. It has plenty of detail though.

The Soundmagic ES18 doesn't have the very strong low bass impact of IEMs with larger drivers such as the 13.5mm Sony MDR-EX210B. The lower bass on the EX210B is very impactful, however imo it still sounds natural and not exaggerated. The EX210B is warm sounding though, and its treble isn't as good as that of the ES18. Overall though the Soundmagic ES18 at just $12 seems like the best buy for an IEM under $20.

The Panasonic RP-HJE450 for around $20 is also quite good. The HJE450 has more deep bass than the ES18, however it doesn't have as much midrange detail.
