There's 2 reasons why Sony doesn't release those high capacity players in most countries. 1, they're afraid to go head to head against the iPod. 2, they're bloody idiots. These things would actually sell like wildfire here in North America/USA. Sony really has a tendency to think with their asses.

An update on the ZX-Series Walkman (http://thewalkmanblog.blogspot.co.uk...-walkmans.html). There is a 4inch (854x480) touchscreen. Connectivity options are identical to the new F-Series, Wifi (a/b/g/n), bluetooth ver 3.0, NFC, and GPS. FM radio and noise cancellation are both absent though. The ZX1 unfortunately not running on the latest Android OS, and is instead still on 4.1. Codec support includes, MP3, WMA, ATRAC, ATRAC Advanced Lossless, Linear PCM, AAC, HE-AAC, FLAC, Apple Lossless, AIFF.

The cost is an eye watering 470 ($US750). Any takers at that price!!

Looks nice - a 128Gb Walkman.

Today Sony Japan introduced the new ultimate Walkman, the NW-ZX1. The ZX1 is expected to arrive in early December with an estimated price of around 75,000yen or 560 Euros. The new ZX1 is carved out of a solid piece of aluminum to minimize any unwanted inference and electrical noise. At 128GB, the ZX1 is the highest capacity Walkman in the brand's history. Just like the new F-Series, the ZX1 is equipped with the new S-master HX amp.

It's not that much different in price compared with their top smartphones...but there lies the problem, why underspec this with a mediocre screen and an obsolete version of android? Who would use the android features on this and why?

If they'd just make something that didn't connect to the internet and with a better screen I could understand the point of it.

I wouldn't call 4.1 quite obsolete.....not the most current, sure, but not obsolete. Gingerbread, that is pretty close to obsolete.

As far as the android features, there is one thing it would be useful for....Sony players don't natively provide gapless playback, but you could download Poweramp or some other music app if gapless was important to you. I certainly wouldn't use this device for watching movies or playing games though.

It appears that you've already gotten the answer to your question on Head-Fi. Search that thread,...

(I'm tds101 on Head-Fi BTW,...)
