Default Not recognized frequently

by computer when plugged in. I just got a used E260 that I plan to make into a 280. It seems to not acknowledge the player when plugged in.
I actually just figured out that some of the pins on the player are bent or missing making a precarious connection. On my Win 7 system it doesn't see it ever. On Win Vista it's hit and miss. Is this just going to get worse or is there a solution?

Thx.

I also have some broken/bent pins on my E250 I bought on ebay last year. The seller did not tell me that

I tried to straighten up some pins with pliers and now it is recognized by the computer but that's definitely not a long-term solution and could get worse at any time. The best is to use mainly a microSD card with an external reader and to use the E250 connector as few as possible.

How mine looks like now:

Your camera is better than my eyes. I'll have to take a pic. Guess I'll be clinching my butt cheeks when I plug in. Are u rockboxed? I could return it since it's just off Ebay. This will be my 4th. If I could piece them together I'd be set.

If you still have all 4 of them then we probably can piece them together.

Yes, sure, check out my themes in my sign^^

But Rockbox or OF doesn't matter for USB connection. One broken/missing pin may be enough to make it fail, that's definitely an hardware issue.

I also think you could piece them together. I wouldn't return it just because of that, especially if it wasn't expensive.

I do, but the parts are all soldered and I suck at soldering. Except for an earphone jack which I hope to be able to do.

But w/RB I wouldn't have to rotate stuff as much.

We could always work something out so that I would do the soldering for you. Just an idea if you think its worth it.

Yea, I'm down. So what's the deal with this E260 having a pins interface? I guess the board broke off?

What's going on there? What has happened to the solid piece?
