Rockbox: Clip Zip

Hi!
I'm not new for rockbox. I'm also not advanced user. I've been using some 1 year old version and now I have upgraded to 3.13. During my research I found some comparison between Clip+ rockbox versions. Link. From what I understand 0x1B is best version of rockbox. Is there some better builds than original rockbox for our Clip Zip? Where to get them?

What you linked to are RMAA test results from different builds that were done when the AMSv2 port was in it's early stages. Any of the results of that are incorporated into what's available in the today. That makes what you have right now the best.

I was hanging out here and in rockbox irc when the reports came that the OF was louder and there were some audible differences. That's how I'm certain that what's available now includes the best you see there.

Sometimes people come across those test results and aren't aware that the results were used to cleanly increase the volume which, iirc, was ~3 dB lower than the OF. dfkt volunteered to run RMAA test on builds as they were generated and posted them on his site. That's what you see there.

Can you recommend me some sound settings? I found some on the internet but they are for old versions with less setting options.
The best would be to found someone with Sennheiser MX 880. I ordered them today. My old Senns stopped working and I decided to get much better ones.

This is the build of f5b7134 [Wed, 10 Apr 2013 01:07:35 +0200] with a modified FS#9305 applied.

Original had VOLUP, VOLDOWN and PLAY. I added SKIPNEXT and SKIPPREV as keys to not turn on the screen.

Not hard at all. Some Linux experience is useful but not even needed.

here are my sound settings for the cx300s. Try them out. They were configured with rockbox v3.11 but should work for any release, as i use them with v3.12

This definitely works, I use it daily.

In my LCD settings, I set "Backlight" to 5s, "First Buttonpress Enables
Backlight" to Off and "Backlight on Volume Change" to No.

I've just tried to install the rockbox files in the first post.

Is there any way to get back to the original firmware ?

I've read the instructions at the start but am none the wiser.

Yes, something seems to have gone wrong - on the player screen it requests usb connection, then it says it can't connect.

Please describe in nauseating detail the exact steps you took and the results of each step. Then someone here might be able to assist. Also, which operating system are you using?

In detail:

1) extracted rockbox zip (from post 1) to root of clip zip (already on latest OE firmware)

2) extracted boot zip (from post 1)to root of clip zip

3) turned on zip clip

I think it was jolly sporting of the zip to tell me to panic, though I think most people would realise that it was a requirement at that point....

hold down the left button when powering on. that will boot into the original firmware. you can then hook it up to your PC and copy across the original firmware. disconnect, let it update and rockbox is gone.

Well, dfkt wrote that post when the port was still not yet officially declared stable. Now that it is officially declared stable, I very strongly recommend that you install with Rockbox Utility. Please do a manual uninstallation, then install with Rockbox Utility.

Please read sections 1 and 2 of the manual before installation if you have not already done so. Please read section 3 of the manual after installation. Please at least take a look at the table of contents for the rest of the manual after installation. And please tell us if you are able to install.
