Default TRRS Jack

Some of the 3.5mm headphone jacks are TRRS, which allow for a headphone/microphone combination, i.e. http://www.amazon.com/Samsung-Stereo.../dp/B008PXMWIW. I want to use this with my Huaweii Prism; the internal microphone that comes with the Prism is terrible. If I buy a TRS to TRRS adapter, will the microphone work (be compatible)?

Thanks,
-Adam

you can't convert from TRS to TRRS with an adapter. The mic has to have a fully completed circuit, which is where the second ring comes from. If the phone isn't set up for the TRRS then it wont be able to complete the circuit.

You could always look at a bluetooth microphone.

I've read that the T-Mobile Huawei Prism can use external mic built into headphones which require a TRRS 3.5mm jack. That said, most of these on the market are wired for apple products and may not work because of the wiring. For example I have a samsung that needs a converter to reverse the TRRS wiring of said headphones in order for the mic to work. The added size of the converter makes this a no for my uses. Good luck, it's not easy finding this info on the manufactures site.
