Don't know if you can see it in the photo, but the logo there is a bunch of tiny little holes, so I guess you'd call them semi-open on-ear....lol.

Guess there are some benefits to spring cleaning. Found a c200 and rockboxed it. Not that I really have any use for yet another mp3 player.

It is a nice looking piece of hardware. I give a lot of credit to the Rockbox team, because the player is absolutely infuriating to deal with when running the original Sansa firmware, but when I sent mine onto its new home, it wasn't bad to use. They improved its usability immensely.

I find it easy to use and actually convenient, though the touchpad area is rather small and not very forgiving (you better aim with some level of precision).
So far I like it a lot more than the Clip+, which is way too small for me. My iPod hasn't seen any use lately either. |

Those headphones that come with it are pretty dang good too. Wish they didn't fall out of my pocket and get run over by a car. Is that the e475 or the older model with slightly longer battery?

Yes you're right, I have both the new model MDR-EX083 and the older MDR-EX082 that came with my NW-A805. EX083s are a massive improvement from the EX082 as the sound is no longer veiled and the treble is good along with Clear Bass (from the walkman). EX083s also are not J-chord like the EX082s and they come with Hybrid Tips as stock
![]() It's an E474, I brought it from India they didn't have E475. This is the latest E Series. The older E Series (E460 series) had rated 50 hours of battery life. But this model was slimmed down the battery life decreased to 36 hours (rated). Still, quite the walkman ![]() I think you can buy the EX083s from Accessoryseek.com (google it). However, I'm not sure if those are real or not. Mine's made in China. Walkman is made in malaysia though. |

Yep that's the one I have. It's a very good player even with the dumbed down battery. Still beats my other mp3 players battery life

You're right about that, the battery life is insanely good with Sony Walkmans. btw, do you use an amplifier with your E475? I didn't notice much of an improvement (sounds a bit smoother though), I guess the E474 drives the SRH440's quite well (they're 44 ohms, not a huge amount), my old source (phone) struggled to keep up with the 440 so I added the E06. Helped a lot.

I have the same amp as you but I don't use it because I found it to be more effort than it was worth and too easy to accidentally unplug while walking around. The way I see it it's called a portable media player. If a piece of equipment makes it less portable with not a lot of benefit I don't use it.

I agree with you, for portable use the amp isn't needed. However, I'm gonna get an L5 LOD to hear the line out vs headphone out difference. Do you have a LOD for your E475 to your E06? Hows the difference?

I have no idea what you're even talking about to be honest.

Um, I was talking about this thing FiiO L5 Line Out Dock Cable for Sony Walkman. Basically it plugs into your Walkman's WM-Port to the 3.5mm input of your amp (E06). What this does is bypass the internal amplifier (correct me if im wrong though) and feeds the signal from the Walkman's DAC directly to the E06's Amplifier.
The way we are using the E06 is connecting it to the Walkman's 3.5mm Headphone Out. So we amping the signal twice as Headphone Out doesn't bypass the internal Amplifier. Anyway, its not necessary but because I already have the E06, I might as well check it out to see what the fuss is all about. |

I have the FiiO L5, and it works great with my amp & to hook up to my surround sound system. The best thing about the Sony players is that you can still use the EQ & sound enhancements if you decide to do so. Very nice,...

Thanks a bunch! I'll definitely get it, I thought I'd lose Clear Bass with the L5, and I can't live without it. Hows the difference of Line Out vs Headphone out on your Sonys if I may ask?

Well, somebody in another forum asked me a similar question recently....so since I am half awake, I'll just copy that question and my answer here. Quote:
