@FreeZ5, I forgot about a PDF reader. Adobe Reader will do just fine for me, though.

McDougal...
If you would like an Office suite, and Polaris Office doesn't come with the Nexus, I saw some positive comments today about the freebie Kingsoft Office. I'll probably have a look at it sometime but I haven't yet. So far Polaris has handled my needs easily. Don't think I've done any updates yet though. Steve

I highly recommend Kingsoft Office - free but well featured.
Google Drive, Dropbox and Evernote are also all free and very good. |

If you listen to podcasts and want to get away from iTunes, there is Podkicker. I have it on both my Galaxy Player 5.0 and Galaxy Tab 7.0 Plus...video podcasts on the tablet, and the audio versions on the 5.0.

I'm not sure if the Nexus 7 comes with an office suite. But if not, then I will check out Kingsoft Office
.@Marvin, thanks for the suggestion, but I don't really listen to podcasts.

I'm sure that it's great (or will be), but I couldn't readily find a download for an Android version. I saw a couple of messages dated Feb 2013 that seemed to say that it was still a work in progress, with no apparent target date.

Don't have mine with me, but IIRC it just comes with Google Drive, which can view office formats but not edit them.

Got my Nexus 7 and so far I love it
. I have it updated to Android 4.2.2, and a few apps installed. Will post pics later.

One problem I've discovered is for some reason the album art on my music is blurry when playing files that are on the device (not the cloud). The MP3 files have high quality album art of at least 500x500 resolution. Does anybody know what's causing this? Thanks.

Also re-reading your description....is the album art OK with files from the cloud? If so, I'm would have to guess that it has even better quality album art. Steve

I need to verify but I think the album art is OK from the cloud. And yes, this is from the stock music player. Didn't think of installing another player, I will try that as well.

Just verified and apparently the album art is blurry through the cloud and Winamp as well. Do I just need higher resolution images? All my stuff is at least 500x500 and mostly 600x600.

I use PowerAmp on my nexus 7 and my album art is fine.
It does give you the option, though, of downloading better album art and using that instead. Google Play music, I find, isn't a good music app compared with others. |

Tried Winamp again and the album art isn't really blurry. I guess it was just the stock music app.
I installed PowerAmp but I see that it's only a trial. Are there any other free music players or is Winamp the best free one?

It is a great device....much better deal than an iPad mini IMO....
I'm trying to decide if I should root it or install a custom ROM......

I'd root no matter what. Doing a custom rom is just a matter of choice,...since stock Android for me wouldn't need to be changed.
