Thumb Down Cowon D3 high sample rate problems

Hello,

I've had a cowon D3 (FW3.55) for since september and i'm still struggling with the overdrive on files with a high sample rate.

By high, i mean above 44 kHz.

I'm talking about homemade rips from some DVD audio, and downsampled files from a few SACDs i've recorded.

I'm not a noob and the files are high quality, sound crystal clear on the computer, and my earphones (shure se215) are still in great shape.

I tried using the stock player, jet audio pro, and poweramp, and each failed at rendering the music enjoyable, particularly the most simple piano tunes.

The sound gets distorted and the result is pretty awful.

The cowon staff is pretty helpless considering they haven't given me any helpful answer to the three I asked them, and don't seem to even know the OS the device is running...or the devices themselves...

I haven't found a recent thread about this problem so I'm wondering if someone finally found a fix.

Btw, is the Z2 flawed in the same way in this aspect or did they fix it?

Thanks in advance.

I don't know if Cowon's version of Android changes that, but stock Android resamples everything to 16 bit / 44.1 kHz. In that case you're better off resampling your material to 16/44.1 offline.
