Between them Apple and Samsung pretty much have the entire market sewn up.

Rim's Blackberry 10 is toast before it has even been released.

"Apple Cuts Orders For iPhone Parts As Demand Slips"

I guess part of the reason for this is Apple's refusal to make phablets. Imo another reason is Apple's omittting a card slot and using a built in battery for their phones. Finally enough people are rebelling against expensive devices designed to be very disposable.

I'm not a fan of Samsung, but Apple's reign of terror is slowly coming to an end.

Not a fan of Samsung? Phones with a card slot and easily swappable battery?
I hated built in batteries ever since I threw away a working electric toothbrush with a worn out battery many years ago. At least a Sandisk Clip Zip is under $30 on sale. I would not want to buy something for hundredsof dollars that has a built in battery.

Look at Samsung in their home country, Korea,...they're linked to the govt, always in scandal, are horridly evil. Apple is, by contrast, a much more morally sound company.

As for their devices, I don't really like 'em. Cheap build quality, and a version of Android I hate most of all. Having a removable battery & micro sd card slot isn't the end all & be all to make me see them as a winner. I just don't like their stuff - and I've owned a few.

Samsung makes a lot of ubiquitous plastic tat - phones, tablets etc. Very often it's not of the best quality.

I agree Jeven,...being #1 in sales doesn't mean #1 in build quality.

Samsung's a big company, makes a lot of devices, at a lot of price points. Can't knock em for giving people choice.

If you were more specifically insinuating that Samsungs high end stuff is badly designed then I'd say, the heck you talking about?

Job's death = Apple's death.

Samsung and Apple are not the only big players.

Yeah, Samsung's Galaxy S4 is outstanding, but is outstandingly expensive as well...

LG's Nexus 4 : More features than Apple's iPhone 5 for half the price. 'Nuff said.

Have you had specific issues with Samsung products? I have not seen any indication that Samsung's build quality is any worse than that of the major Japanese electronics companies. Having said that though, most electronic items in general now seem to be built less robust than products made 10 or 20 years ago. Products are made to be more disposable as high labor costs for repair and rapid obsolescence have made electronics repair unfeasible in many cases. When people complain about this, I ask them if they would be wiling to pay double the price for better build quality. Almost everyone says no. OTOH though, simple things like user replaceable standard batteries is something I do expect in a product.
